Should steroids be allowed in sports?

Where do I start? There are so many facts and evidence for both sides of steroids being used in sports. Whether they are good or bad. Steroids are drugs that athletes use to boost their strength and their muscle. Using steroids causes many health issues. Steroids are used throughout multiple sports. Anywhere from 20%-90% af the professional athletes use steroids. They come in different ways but they are mostly needles. Steriods are typically used in football at the college level and NFL.

The negative side of using steroids are health problems later on in life. A few examples of health issues using steroids can cause are heart attacks or strokes, liver and kidney failures, and high cholesterol. There are way more health conditions that go with using steroids, but I'm not going to list them all. A lot of football atheltes in the NFL that use steroids take them before heavy weights and practices. It makes each athlete feel a little stronger as if they can do more thsn they really can. These steroids don't actually make you stronger or faster in any way. A lot of athletes take steroids because it helps build muscle tissue and increases body mass. They act as a hormone called testosterone.

I don't think steroids should be used in sports because even though there are health problems caused by them, that isn't my reasoning. My reasons are that steroids only make you look huge in sports. It doesn't change who you are or what you can do in these sports. Only you can get better at each sport by practicing. Using steroids is just gonna end up hurting you when you least expect it. I also think steroids should not be used in sports because of the unfair advantages it could give someone agaist someone else who doesn't use them. I'll give an example. If you follow in the NFL then you should know Ray Lewis. It would be like lining up Ray Lewis against any other highschool football player. That's what steroid users in professional sports looks like against the non-users. Other than my reasons they shouldn't be used, players are still probably going to use them anyway.

  • I think that using steroids should not be allowed as, from what I know, steroids may help with gaining muscle but in the end, it has bad effects on your body. I also think steroids give an unfair advantage to others when competing in sports such at football and other sports.

  • I do not think steroids should be allowed in sports because it would be an unfair advantage to those taking steroids so other opponents who are not taking steroids have a higher risk of getting hurt because they are potentially a lot weaker than their opponent.

  • I think that using steroids have an unfair advantage compared to other people that don't use steroids in any type of sports. Also, when using steroids there could be many major health issues that could prevent you from playing sports.

  • I think that steroids give an unfair advantage in sporting events. There's many cases of great athletes being caught for using steroids for enhancing performance. I think that it's overall not keeping the playing field equal. I don't think they should be allowed.

  • I don't think steroids should be used in sports, because not only do they give players an unfair advantage, they also ruin the integrity of each player who uses them. If someone uses steroids to increase their strength, it doesn't reflect their true skill. It isn't fair to players who work their hardest just for another player who uses steroids to beat them without trying nearly as hard.

    • That's another fair point because not having to try your best for tryout because of boosts and someone who really tries their hardest just isn't fair. The steroid user gets to be a starter and the one who actually tried their hardest doesn't get to play. I would hate to be in their shoes. I would feel like the coaches weren't paying attention to what I can do while not using steroids.

  • I don't think that steroids should be used in sports, there are multiple bans in all professional sports for the use of PEDs the most recent suspension for them is Fernando Tatis, and he received an 80 game suspension. For the most part steroids and other drugs that help build testosterone are banned from the professional sports and I think that they should keep it that way because it gives an unfair advantage.

  • I dont think that steriods should be allowed in sports. It gives people an advantage to be better than everyone without giving their all and trying. Sometimes I do with they were allowed though in certain situations.

  • I do not think it should be used in any way. Steriods can have major health issues that come with using them that could hinder you from playing the sport. Sports limit it for a reason and thats to rotect the players. You can get big naturally without the use of steroids.

  • I don't think steroids should be used/allowed in sports. It's cheating. Physically it enhances you and your skills. It's natural and defeats the purpose of a fair win. It's unfair for other people. You would have an advantage against someone who doesn't use steroids. Steroids can get you disqualified or cause you to forfeit because of how unfair they are.
