Rosa Parks

Rosa parks were born on February 4, 1913, in Tuskegee, Alabama.  Rosa helped initiate the civil rights movement after she refused to give up her seat to a white man on a Montgomery, Alabama bus.  Because of her actions, the community decided to start an organization called "The Montgomery bus boycott", The boycott was led by Martin king Luther jr.

Rosa's family consisted of her mother and father Leona and James Mcauley, Rosa had moved with her parents to pine level, Alabama when she was only 2 years old, Her brother was born in 1915 and shortly after that her parents separated, Rosa's mother was a teacher and her family valued education, Rosa started school at age 11 at a high school in Montgomery, Alabama. She left school early at the age of 16 to take care of her dying grandmother, in 1932 at the age of 19 rosa married Raymond parks, that next year rosa earned her diploma

Rosa was arrested on December 1, 1955, for not giving up her seat, when rosa was asked why she didn't give up her seat she said " people say that I didn't give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn't true. I was not tired physically, No, The only tired I was, was giving in." after not giving up her seat 2 police officers finally approached the seat and put rosa into custody. She was later released on bail, and on December 5th  rosa was found guilty of violating segregation laws, she was given a suspended sentence and was fined $10 and an extra $4 for court costs.

After continued harassment from the public, Rosa, her husband, and her mother decided to move to Detroit. • Kaylee,

I can't accept this as it's copy/pasted from last semester. You need to redo this.

  • I think that Rosa Parks make a good decision for not moving because this gave other African Americans the boldness to stand up for themselves. I think that now we realize everyone is the same no matter what race, and everyone is allowed the same oppurtunity as another.

  • I think Rosa did the right thing not giving in to the man who wanted her seat. She should not of been harrased like that and sent to jail because she didn't give her seat up. Rossa didn't touch the guy she didn't verbally say anything bad to him, all she did was stand up for her self by not giving up. I feel that if was wrong of the police to arrest a harmless women because of her race.

  • I think Rosa Parks was being very bold by not moving seats. It couldn't have been easy for her to do that, but she knew what was right. If she wouldn't have done that, then there is a good chance there wouldn't have been changes in segregation laws. Anybody should be able to choose their seat.

  • I think that standing up for what she believed in was the right decision. She stood her ground and what she believed in when almost everyone was against her. It's actually incredible what she did.  I think people of any race should have the right to sit wherever

  • Although Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat, I still believe that she made the right decision. I think of Rosa Parks as a brave woman due to the fact that she stood up against many others on that bus. In my opinion, it shouldn't matter what race you are when it comes to transportation people should have the right to choose where they sit.

  •  I think that her choosing to stand up for herself and her rights as a human being it was obviously the right decision because her decision not to move seats lead up to more people recognizing that skin color doesn't make people more or less human. Yes I think that people of any race should be able to choose their seat on public transport.

  • I believe Rosa Parks made the right decision by not moving seats. The reason for that is because it started peaceful protests which resulted in more rights for people. Also people of any race should be able to choose anywhere they sit no matter who else in on a bus or any other public transport.

  • I think that Rosa Parks made the right decision of not moving seats because this helped initiate the civil rights movement. I think that people of any race should be able to sit where they choose. The color of someone's skin shouldn't determine what they're allowed to do.

  • I think Rosa Parks made the right decision by not giving her seat up because it really launched the civil rights movement. She was a very brave person for doing so too. People of any race should definitely be able to pick their own seats because it is just a simple privelage everyone should have.
