History of Golf

Golf has been around for a long time, starting way back in Scotland in 1477. People used to play on natural landscapes with handmade wooden clubs and leather balls. It was a game enjoyed by the Scottish nobility, but it quickly caught on and spread like wildfire across the country and beyond. The game continued to change in Scotland, and by the 18th century, golf clubs were established. The first golf course was the Golf Club of St Andrews which played a significant role in shaping the rules and regulations of the game. It became a central hub for golf enthusiasts, and they even developed the first standardized set of rules in 1754.

In the 18th century, golf clubs were established, and they started making rules for the game and building proper golf courses. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in Scotland played a major role in setting up the rules and regulations that we still follow today. Golf made its way to the United States in the 19th century, and the first golf club was established in 1888. From there, golf courses popped up, professional golf associations formed, and the game just kept growing.

And now, in the 21st century, golf is a global sensation. We've had incredible golfers like Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods who have made their mark on the sport. Tournaments like the Masters and the Open Championship have become legendary events that bring together the best golfers from around the world. It's truly amazing to see how golf has evolved and become a beloved sport enjoyed by millions.

Have you ever played golf? If so, what do you enjoy most about it?

If you have, what is your favorite course?

If you haven't ever played, what outside activities do you enjoy?

  • Yes i play golf for the high school and it is really enjoyable just to be able to get to know new people during some of the golf meets that we are in or even being able to catch up with some people I havent talk to for a while. My favorite course that I've played was one in Minestota not sure the name of it. But it was a 27 hole course and each 9 being a different level of difficalty

  • I have really only been to top golf. I don't really like top golf, so I don't think I would really would like real golf. I actually kinda like mini golf, but I don't think it is for me. My little brother and stepbrother, really enjoy golf.

  • I have never really played golf so I don't necessarily know what I would enjoy most about it. I have played golf a couple times during PE class but I have never played an actual game of golf. However, I do think it is entertaining to watch.

  • I have never played golf, but I have done mini-golf a few times. During Pe we have played golf a little, but I wasn't that good at it. I don't have a favorite course. I do enjoy to simply walk around outside with my friends.

  • I've never played golf before, but I would like to do it at least one time in my life. I don't know, I like soccer but only as a game with friends, I don't like to practice it well as a sport because I think I won't be good, I like swimming, and fishing to accompany my family who likes it.

  • I play golf occasionally but not all the time. I think it's entertaining to watch to a certain extent but I could not do it as a sport. I like running in the spring and playing softball in the summer.

  • I've only ever played golf in P.E. but it was pretty fun. I don't really play any sports but my favorite outside activites wouls have to be swimming or just walking around.

  • I played golf one time with some friends and I think it was fun joking around with them. It was at the North Course and I thought it was pretty nice. I think golf would be very fun if i happend to be good at it or just even played it more. I think that golf is a great sport to play.
