The debate of free healthcare in the United States is an ongoing discussion that holds many pros and cons. Many people believe that free healthcare is the key to one of the many problems we have: Medical expenses. As a country that's always triving to be better healthcare is constantly mentioned as something we can improve on. With many European countries providing free healthcare for their citizens, why doesn't America?
A main reason for why the United States doesn't have free healthcare is because the resources and money needed to make it "free" is an astronomical amount. For example, in Canada, a lot taxes are much higher than in the U.S. This increase in taxes drastically helps provide for the so called "free" healthcare. Calling the healthcare free is kind of a sneaky lie. This is because the increase of taxes is comparable to the rates we pay in America.
There are many pros to free healthcare. For example, it is easily accessible and even people who are financially struggling can access it, this would be a major benefit to any country, considering the unemployed or homeless populations. Another pro is that free healthcare promotes visits to the hospital and routine checkups. This can then lead to early detection and prevention of potential disease and early treatment. However, there are many cons to free healthcare. For example, as I mentioned before the skyrocketing of taxes doesn't usually go well for people and is a major drawback to the free healthcare system. Another con is that resources could be majorly impacted. With everybody having an equall access to these resources, there could be an overconsumption of certain drugs which could lead to depletion of resources very quickly.
I feel that many Americans think that free healthcare is the greatest thing in the world, however I think if we were to institute this system, then reality would set in and people would be very negative towards the fact of higher taxes. This would then lead to people being opposed to the free healthcare system. So in conclusion, I think that either way if we have a free healthcare system or not, some people are going to be upset, whether it's from paying increased taxes, or not having a free system for their health insurance.
What do you think about America establishing a free healthcare system?
Would you be willing to pay the extra taxes if it meant free healthcare?

Yes, health care in america should be free. Most other country in the world provide health care, and when you retire you probably arn't going to make enough to afford everything unless you get a part time job. Especially when looking at older people when the start getting social security to help while younger people will have full time jobs that offer raises that can help pay for new taxes. and for the rates being the same as what we pay for health care, I think it could be diffrent we just need to see it implemented first to see if there is a way of adjusting the price.
I do understand the want to have free healthcare for everyone but I disagree with the idea of making healthcare free in America. Free healthcare comes at a significant cost in taxes for the working class. Giving raises will also not help them be able to pay taxes because as you pay people more the cost of goods rises and so would the tax needed for free healthcare. Also, a government-run healthcare program would be inefficient and it would probably be lower quilty than the private ones like we have seen in other countries with free healthcare.
I disagree with you, however, I believe that many Americans would be heavily opposed to the increase in taxes. I also think that your argument that older people won't be able to afford it, I disagree, if the retired people are smart enough, then they will invest and make an account that grows their money and helps them save up for retirement.
I feel like America should not have free health care. Taxs are already high enough in this day of society, so rasing them higher would just be awful. Even tho I don't really pay for my own helath care or really any taxs. If health care were to become free I would not wanna pay it. I can see all the benfits tho for free health care. Then homeless and other people who are not finicail stable will be able to get the medical care they need. But some people will abuse this power, they may act like they are in pain but they are just using this to get medicine that they are addicted to. So I can see both sides of this and I really think that it should not be free.
I agree with you, the "free" healthcare would not really be free. They would have to raise taxes or else the government would go into even more debt than we have now. The United States has enough debt and doesn't need any more .
I also think it is a very good point that you said some people would abuse this and get drugs that they are addicted to. Some people are not very smart these days and would do anything for what they are addicted to. This is just another reason why I agree with not free healthcare.
I definitely agree with this because there are a lot of people that already complain about taxes and adding more wouldnt help the scenario. There are some benefits to free healthcare but I think you are right on saying not free healthcare is better.
I agree with you because people already have a problem with paying taxes, and if they were raised it could even more anger. There is benefits of free healthcare like you said. I also like that you provided your opinion on people absusing this power. Nowadays people do unbelivable things and having the chance to get medications might cause problems.
I agree with your opinion. This is not a good idea becuase taxes would get very very high. I agree with the part where you stated that some people would use it in non-benefitial ways, and just use it to get medication that they are addicted to. You made a very good piont when you said that. i also think there are only minor pros of this.
I completely agree with you. I think that many Americans would be very upset with an increase of taxes. I also think this increase on taxes would require the increase of income for the average American, because if you are required to pay more taxes, then you will have to have an increase on income to keep the economy in line.
