we talked about the iteds and extra credit points availible, and some other stuff.. then we started on the presentaionsThe presentaion was about th Great Plains, when America realized that the Great Plains where worth farming, so then the goverment started changing the land from forest and praie to farmland, it 250 years to change 400 acres, the next 400 took only 30, around the 1860's the govt. made land grants to railroad componys, 170 acres where given, central Pacific and Union pacific where the two largest companys making the roads, in 1869, the transcontinital railroad was finished, contecting the entire country after the companys finished, they sold the land surrounding the railroads, in 1862, congress passed the homestead act, which gave land to any citizen moving west. when people built houses on the frontier, they had to improvise, since trees where scarce.
