Today in U.S History we continued looking at Mr. Bruns powerpoint on the JFK assassination. Abraham Zapruder was the man to shoot the Zapruder film. He sold it for 150,000 dollars, he could sell it for so much because he was the only man to have a film of the assassination. Connally's wife Nellie was very upset because everybody was focusing on Kennedy and not focusing on Connally's injury at Parkland Hospital. During Kennedy's funeral his son John Jr. saluted to Kennedy's casket, it was also the day of John John's. third birthday. Next we talked about Lee Harvey Oswald. He was also awarded a sharpshooter award. He claimed that his mother was sick so they discharged him. He married a woman named Marina and they had two children. He was arrested at first for killing J.D Tippett and not for the Kennedy asssassination. He was arrested at the Texas Theatre.I learned about a new conspiracy theory called the Umbrella man theory. In the Zapruder film an umbrella magically appears, and some say that the man was hidding a gun in the umbrella. I also learned that JFK was supposed to have a glass bubble around the car, but he didn't want it because it was a hot day and wanted to wave to people. I also learned that Vice President Lyndon Johnson was in the car behind JFK, but they never really got along. He was only put on the ballet to get more Electoral Votes. That is what I learned about VP Johnson. I also learned that Johnson only gave Bobby Kennedy 24 hours to get everything out of the Oval Office, which also shows their bad blood.I learned that the Texas School Book Depository is now a museum. Another thing that I learned was that Oswald purchased the gun under the name A. Haddell. Oswald was allowed to give a press conference, that is one interesting thing that I learned. He claimed he was a Patsy. Jack Ruby killed Oswald while he was being transfered to another prison.
