Staph Bacteria Found In Sand And Water

San Francisco, California, was the first place staph bacteria was found in the sand and water of public beaches. Staph infection has now been located at five beaches along the coast of Washington and keeps spreading.Staph bacteria is a germ or methicillin-resistant. It is a hard to cure bacterica if it is found outside of hospitals. Although it is growing in places such as schools, locker rooms, and gyms, scientist have not yet found a way to keep this bacteria from growing. The reactions to this bacteria are nasty skin infections as well as pneumonia and other life threatening problems. Staph is spread mainly through human contact. So far, the beach is the only known place to where people are picking this disease up. "We don't know the risk" for any individual going to a beach," says Marilyn Roberts, "But the fact that we found these organisms suggests that the level is much higher than we had thought." Marilyn presented results to the American Society for Microbiology conference in California.
