Today was another work day on our presentationHomestead act; was passed by government in 1862. Act stated that people would receive 160 acres of free land to any citezen or intened citizen who was head of the household. From 1862 to 1900s; over 600,000 families took the government's offer. Only about 10% of the land was settled by families.
