Riots in Kampala, Uganda

Violent three-day riots started on Thursday in Uganda's capital city, Kampala. Young Bagandans started the riots on Thursday because the gov't said that their cultural king couldn't travel to a part of the country inhabited by a rival group. Tension had been forming for a while between the president and the Baganda kingdom, one of the four kingdoms in the nation. At least 640 people were arrested and 14 killed because of the riots. Cars and tires were burned, buildings looted and burned, and one group even stole ammunition from a police station and confronted officers, accusing them of harrassment. "The government is wrong to undermine cultural institutions which are the backbone of Uganda's heritage," said Mzamiru Balidha, a resident of Kampala. I really agree with this guy. The gov't shouldn't interfere with something that's been around since before they have. The gov't and Baganda king are going to have a meeting and discuss their differences, according to a gov't official. I think rioting was a little extreme for the situation, and there could've been a more peaceful resolution.
