President Obama's Speech to American Children

On September 8, President Obama gave a speech to students at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. It was many student's first day of school. Students all over America watched President Omaha as he talked about education.

He informed the students about him living in Indonesia for a few years of his life. His mother could not afford to send him to where all Americans went to school. Even though they were very unfortunate, his mom still encouraged him to be educated just like many Americans. Every morning before she went to work they would get up at 4:30 and she would teach him about everything she could. That day Obama talked about about how we could have the best teachers or the best schools in the world but none of that would matter unless we students fulfill our responsibilities. He told students that day that they could be anything they wanted but you would never not whether or not you liked it unless you try it. No matter what you do with your life, you will need an education.

What we students make of our education will decide the future of our country. What we students are learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future. Every think we will learn in school will help us will almost everything we need to be able to do as an adult.

President Obama told us how he got in trouble when he was a student, but he never let it get for enough to actually ruin his life. He had to work hard in school just like everyone else. He was committed to following his dreams. His wife was also the same way.He told some stories of different people and how they worked hard and now they are very successful. I think that they were quite inspiring. I just hope that students around the U.S. will now think about working harder in school and to stay in school because, if you are to quit in school it would be just like quitting on our country. When I think about how much everyone in this country does for everyone else it just makes me think about how much I don't want to let this country down.
