Elderly Bank Robber on Oxygen Gets Away on Foot

On Saturday morning at about 10:12 in La Jolla, California a bank was robbed. This story, however, isn't like every other bank robbbery because the robber was a man in his 70's possibly 80's! The man had an oxygen tank that he carried in a bag, he had a white beret, argyle sweater and brown sports jacket. It's said that he went up to the cashier and gave her a demand note, then got an unknown amount of cash, walked off, and didn't get caught by the cops. The San Diego police Sgt. Ray Battrick said that it was unclear if he had a weapon or not.Personaly I think this is absolutly hilarious. Honestly who would ever think that a 70 year old guy would go rob a bank? Nobody would! It's a perfect crime. I was reading some comments on the page that I found this information at and one person made a point. What if the man just couldn't talk with the oxygen and so he handed her a note? Then the cashier thought it was a hold up and the guy walked away with a lot of money that he thought was his? I think that to prove that idea we'd have to know what the note said. I still think this story's incredibly funny. Here's a video from a local news station in regards to the robbery, the video will be in the top right hand corner of the page.-Breann Lehr

  • He definitely does not fit the description of a traditional bank robber!
