9/11 had a massive impact on the United States. It brought losses of many lives, and it introduced the United States to the Patriot Act and the TSA. The Patriot Act is called the USA PATRIOT act. It stands for: Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism. The TSA stands for Transportation Security Administration. It helps to provide efficient security for passengers on planes. This tragic event made the airplane security very strict. 9/11 led to invasions in Iraq and Afghanistan because that is where Al Qaeda was located.
When this event occurred many late night television shows, and sports events had been cancelled. Flights were cancelled for awhile. The late night shows often shared political humor, and they thought it wouldn't be appropriate to broadcast their show because of 9/11. Eventually they realized that these shows, and sports events are a way of entertainment for the people. They needed to get people back to the way they were before the attack. So they starting airing these shows again, and had sports start back up. Schools around New York were out of school for awhile, and some parents around the US took their kids out of school because they were frightened by what happened.
I believe that this made Americans come closer together. It also massively increased security safety for transportation. Even today, the security to get through to get on an airplane is very strict. I think that the security goes a little bit far with some of the rules. But if something like 9/11 happened I understand why they make it so strict.
