Today is the last day of Mr. Bruns's powerpoint presentation on the J.F.K. assassination. We began with the Watergate Effect. With the Watergate scandal, Nixon resigned. With the start of the Vietnam War, the citizens of the U.S. began to seriously mistrust the government. They believed that the government could have killed Kennedy and his family members, that the government was behind the Watergate scandal, and that the government began an unwinnable war.Sixteen years later, another official report came out about the J.F.K. assassination. Scientists used acoustical evidence to suggest that there were actually two gunmen who four three shots, and ultimately killed Kennedy. This means that they used recorded sound waves and the acoustics of the area to find that there were shots fired from two different weapons. The official commity behind this reported that they believe that there is a conspiracy surrounding the assassination, but are unable to solve it. This commity lost quite a bit of credability for being unable to find the supposed second gunmen. They also told the general public that Kennedy had not recieved adequate protection. The commity discredited the ideas that Soviets, Cubans, or other largely known organizations, but that the assassination was the work of a small and organized group. The CIA and other protection organizations were put under high scrutiny and pressure because people claimed that the CIA wasn't doing their job properly. One conspiracy theory that Bruns touched on was the "Three Tramps Conspiracy". Although I wont go into full detail, the jist of the theory is that some of the "tramps" that were thought to have been involved with the assassination strikingly resembled members of the White House Plumbers, a CIA based investigation group. These men were directly involved with the Watergate scandal, being one of the burglers. These men were high up and were connected with Nixon. It was well known that Nixon hated the Kennedy's. Nixon lost to Kennedy in the very close election of 1960. Even when Nixon was elected later in the decade as president, Nixon was known to make comments about the Bay of Pigs, but it never really seemed that he was actually talking about the Bay of Pigs, but was talking in code. Some think that this code-talking as something having to do with Kennedy's death.James Files admitted to being the second gunmen in the Kennedy assassination. However, nobody really believed Files enough to give him any credit in the assassination. Files was going to be given a segment on NBC about his story, but the show was dropped because the producers did not feel that it would be wise to give Files the segment becasue they thought that his story just wasn't strong enough to support his claim, and if they gave him the chance to tell his story, people would believe it and the story may have later turned out to be fake. And so ends the J.F.K. assassination projects, except I think that we are going to have a test about it on Wednesday.
