Today in U.S. History, we finished Mr. Bruns's power point presentation. People had thought they heard gunfire near the grassy knoll, but apperently, as stated by the Warren Commission, it was just echoes.People lost trust in the government, so they demanded the truth and the House Select Committee on Assassination was opened. Thier goals were to cover who the assassins were, how the assassination was caried out, and other information regarding the assassination. It stated that Lee Harvey Oswald fired 3 shots, the first 2 hitting JFK, the 3rd killing him, and scientifical audio devices picked up sounds of supposed gunfire near the grassy knool, making it a possibility there was 2 gunmen. The committee stated that the Cuban and Soviet governments, anti- Castro groups, secret service, FBI, nor the CIA had any part in the assassination. It also stated Kennedy did not recieve adequate protection. There was a three tramps conspiracy where there were two men who looked very similar to Watergate burglars. Another conspiracy was Nixon had something to do with the assassination. He was very paranoid and thought people were out to get him and so he hated them. He flew out of town the day of the assassination and when told about it he was said to have not had a reaction to it.There was another man, James Files, who calimed to have been the second gunmen. Not very many people believed him because he changed his story often. He wasn't held in captivity for very long. Many similarities between JFK and Abraham Lincoln and their assassins were found.
