Today was a continuation of Mr. Bruns's powerpoint presentation about the J.F.K. assassination. We took off where we left off, talking about where Vice President Lindon Johnson was, and what he did directly after the assassination. Johnson was in the vehicle directly behind Kennedy's, and Johnson was covered and protected by the Secret Service as soon as the gun shots were fired. Jacqueline Kennedy was adamant about standing side-by-side with Johnson as he was sworn in to stand as president of the United States of America. We later talked about Lee Harvey Oswald, and his life and story behind the assassination. Lee appeared to be a happy boy growing up. He joined the Marines, and was only just able to be deemed a sharpshooter. He eventually defected to the USSR and became a communist. During his travels abroad, he became married, and was very abusive. Oswald moved to Cuba and was very openly against Kennedy and the Bay of Pigs. He later moved to Texas. He actually worked at the Texas School Book Depository. On the day of the assassination, Oswalds car-pool buddy and coworker noticed that Oswald was acting very strange and seemed very direct. He also had a very large paper bag wrapped around something but did not say what it was. Oswald basically barricade the windows of the office that he used to shoot at Kennedy on the sixth floor of the TSBD Building. After the shooting, Oswald fled the scene, but not before hastily and terribly hiding his gun, but not the shells. He went straight to an apartment. Police officer Tippet noticed Oswald was acting very strange, and tried to stop him. Oswlad shot and killed Tippet. Oswald was later captured in a theatre. This is all that I am going to say for today.
