Chapter 10.... OMiGosh its also Kelsey's Blog 10

America its a great country..... but it took alot to get to where we are today. Did you know that we (meaning the United States) didn't want anything to do with Alaska? It was considered an ice waste land and had no worth at all. Well this guy named William Seward saw potential in poor Alaska. He convinced the United States to buy Alaska from the Russians for 7.2 million dollars. Good thing too because Alaska supplies most of our lumber, oil, and gold supply. Then of course there were all those wars we had to go through to get to where we are today. Like when we fought Spain in the Philippines! Rude of us if you ask me, but its okay because we won. Well Spain surrendered but its all good.Speaking of the Philippines they rebelled against us. In February 1899 the Filipinos for some strange reason wanted their freedom... I know weird right? Well it took the United States three years to calm down the rebellion. They established their own government and slowly moved toward their freedom. On July Fourth 1946 they got it.I have learned alot in this silly chapter. Stuff like one guy made it possible for us to trade with China. Have you ever noticed how many things are "made in China". His name was John Hay. Great guy genius if you ask me. O and when Woodrow Wilson was president we almost got in a war with Mexico. The two countries had gotten into a few fights and we lost some marine soliders but after a while the tension died down and thankfully no war offically started.

Well these are a few highlights of some of the things I have learned.Study it....remember it.....LIKE IT. Why?Because I said so!
