Iowa's Past Fading Away

Iowa has always been well known for our beautiful landscapes. With all the different things that make our state beautiful are the historic barns. They used to be seen everywhere. With prices of almost everything going up now days farmers are being forced to tare down historic barns. Thus creating more land for them to sell to businesses. Some barns date clear back to the 1800's. A farmer from Iowa City was forced to tare down a barn from 1880 that had been in his family that long. The prices of everything has been so drastic for some farmers that the barns are slowly dissappearing. Some sell their land to other farmers. Some tare them down so they can grow more crops. Our past is very important. Alot of it is held in the barns that we all see in fields and on old farms. They once were looked opon in awe and now are being torn down because of money issues. Some though are just becoming too old and are crumbling and falling down. Farmers are willing to give an arm and a leg just to see these wonderful landmarks still stand. There are still a couple of hundred that are still in good condition. Farmers and the Iowa government is doing everything they can to keep these barns around to preserve some of our great history. The barns might only be a small sliver of that history but they are still part of it.
