Nine Eleven - Danielle's Weekly Blog Post #4

So way back in 2001, Lil' Danielley Hernando was enrolled at New Park Elementary. Which is totally better than West Ridge. Don't argue with me, I know I made detailed comparisons. Lawl.Anyway, so back then I was in third grade, and as such was one of the oldest students there. There's not a whole ton I can really recall, and honestly I can admit I didn't really understand or pay all that much attention. I was eight, gosh. My teacher, Mrs. Deuel the beastly science teacher, sat down the class and told us what was going on. It may have been the eleventh, it may have been the twelth, I'm not really sure. But in any case I remember finding out.In later years the event came to have a lot more meaning to me. The above image is a project I did for Art II. It gained an Excellence in Art Award at the Hawkeye Ten Art Show... which I totally did not attend. Semptember 11 was truly a tragedy, and in the same league (possibly holding even greater repercussions) as Pearl Harbor, JFK Assassination, The Great Depression, The Lincoln Assassination, and The Boston Massacre. Great hardships have a way of pulling people together, and I, myself, am glad to call myself an America. *cue cheesy music*For the record, I completely understand the difference between why we are in Iraq and why we are in Afghanistan, and for that matter am perfectly content in not going over it AGAIN. We're in Iraq because it was being ran by a dictatorship headed by Suddam Hussein (sp? lawlz) and it was believed to be developing/totally having! weapons of mass destruction. We're in Afghanistan to stop the terrorists/Al Queda headed by Osama Bin Laden, who were in fact responsible for 911. Ta dah! Big story; little blog. Be impressed.
