Bessemer Process- first inexpensive industrial process for the mass-production of steel from molten pig iron. force air into melted iron which takes carbon out, much more longer lasting then iron.8. Alexander Graham Bell -- the invention of the telephone.Chapter 6.2 The Age of the RailroadsCh. 6.2:-What impact did railroads have on the US?-Why were many people upset with the railroads?-What did the Grangers or government do to regulate the railroads?Railroad expansion occured to the Mississippi River and then Missouri River. Railroad workers were freight handlers, locomotive engineers who built and repaired the rolling stock. European Immigrants repaied the tracks. Time confussion- each town ran on their own times. Whenever the sun was directly above their heads they thought that it was noon. Then they divided the each into 24 time zones. Towns were connected by railroads.
