We talked about our blogs from like two weeks ago today. First we talked about the United Nations. We talked about the big organizations that make it up. The General Assembly gets together every year and talks about issues. They also voted for the people in charge. The Security Council is pretty much the big dog for the whole thing. They decide whether countries go to war. The five permanent countries (US, UK, China, France, Russia) have veto power. Mr. Bruns said that there are a ton of different little organizations that make up the UN.Then we talked about the president of Iran, Khamenei. Lindsey said people from his counrty don't like him because he's kind of like a preacher in there faith and they don't want a preacher as a leader. Also, I learned that he really hates the US. Then we taked about Ahmadinejad. He's the one we always hear about even though Khamenei is really the head honcho of the whole thing. Ahmadinejad believes that Jews should be wiped off the earth. He wants to get rid of Israel. Last we talked about the recent election in Iran. It was between Ahmadinejad and some other guy. And the people think that the government rigged the election because Ahmadinejad won and they thought the other guy was gonna win by a landslide.
