Movies - They can introduce new topics or review familiar ones. Most obvious benefit of movies. In history class for example the teachers can use a film in the time period of that discussion to give the class a better understanding of how and what it was like back then. They can serve as a springboard for discussions and debates. After watching the documentary the teacher can ask the class to discuss, or write down what they saw, heard and learned about it. This can be a good way to get the class to think critically about that subject. This may be especially helpful if there is a controversail topic, allowing us to see both sides. This can help the teachers to learn what other student understanding or how they learn better. Students can or may gain a better understanding of the world around them. It can give them a glimpse into the past. This can help students develop communication skills. BY doing this students learn to express their ideas cleary and effectively.

Books - Books help kids develop basic language skills and profoundly expand their vocabularies. They are interactive they demad that students think. Is a direct link to the ideas of the past. It shows reverience for the body of knowledge that existed in our world before we did.

I think that movies help us get a better understanding because since the age of time we watched the world grow. We watch to learn things we didn't have books when Adam and Eve came into the world. They had to watch the things around them to find food and make shelter. Yet we use technlegy a lot in this day of age books still are very good to have around.

  • The topic was very similar to last weeks tropic. Otherwise good job on the summary. You only commented a few times.

  • I think books are better because you can extract a large vocabulary, learn new words, and imagine things, but I consider movies helpful too because you can reference the book and find similarities.

  • I think that book help more than movies just because people can understand books more than they do movies and people might have to go back in a back rather than rewinding a movie to learn something.

  • I think that I absorb more information from a movie. It has a lot more sensory items such as sounds and visuals. I think that I could still learn a lot from a book which would open up both options for school learning. I think that some movies would definitely help some students who may not be very good at comprehension.

  • I think that books can be more educational for students but movies are more enternaining and can explain things better visually. It can help students really understand what is going on without having to read.

  • I personally believe that books help me understand better. Although books might be longer and more boring, I find it hard to focus during a movie and try to learn from it. I personally think books are better for school, but you could watch the movie after the book to comprehend the story even more.

  • In my opinion, the book always helps me to understand better. I can imagine the book and it tends to be more detailed. I would prefer a book for school because then if I have downtime I can read it, and I don't have to watch something. I think the school should do books.

  • For me, movies give me more information because I pay attention no matter what movie i watch. However, with books i tend to space off a lot and I might miss little pieces of information.

  • I belive books help you understand more. When you read a book you use your imagination and your imagination can be a lot difrent and more understanding than a movie would be.

  • I think books help kids understand more because there can be way more information and it can be way more descriptive. I would prefer movies, just because it is more fun, but books are definetly better. I would want the school to go to movies rather than books.
