I dont think a war was necesary to end slavery but it was brought to the point and it makes sense that there was a war because of the size of this debate back then. I think slavery would not be around today as the government is more stable now and I believe they waould shut it down.
I don't think A war was necessary to end slavery but I don't think in that time slavery would have ended if the war hadn't occurred. I think the South wanted to make more money from their plantations and keep growing there agriculture. If there wasn't a war I think slavery wouldn't be around today just because of realization and time.
