Student Feedback Requested--Extra Credit

Hi students.

Much of what I do as a teacher is based on student feedback over the years. It has been several years since I last asked for feedback so now is the time once again to do so. Please answer the following questions to get five points extra credit. Please be honest with your answers as I won't hold anything against you as I need both postivie and constuctive feedback to make myself better as a teacher.

Also, please go to Rate My Teacher and rate me there as well. It does require you to sign up which is free and easy with Google sign in.

If you would prefer to stay anonymous, copy and paste the questions below into an email or Google Doc and share them with me.

1. How would you say I do in regards to allowing student choice and opportunites for students to find success in my classroom?

2. One of the biggest goals of mine as a teacher is fairness. Do you feel I am a fair teacher?

3. Another goal of mine is trying to have a postive classroom environment. Do you feel that my classroom is a postive environment? Explain.

4. Do you feel like you learn in my classroom? What could I do differently to help you learn better?

5. Would you say I lecture too much? Would you like to see more project based learning?

6. Please give me feedback on the forum posts and forum post leader grades. Do you like them? Do you dislike them? Why? If you usually don't do them, why don't you do them?

7. Do you feel that the citizenship grade I started this semester is something that I should continue in the future? Please explain why or why not.

8. What is your favorite thing about this class and least favorite thing about this class.

9. Do you like how I rotate the type of tests I give? Explain.

10. Please add anything else you would like to that would help make me a better teacher and my classroom a better environment.

  • 1. I think that you do well with giving students different options to gain the same amount of points. The extra credit options are also very beneficial.

    2. I believe that you are indeed a fair teacher. As previously stated, you offer different options for students that otherwise wouldn't feel comfortable with completing the work i.e. some students don't feel comfortable with posting their opinions on the forum posts.

    3. I believe the classroom environment is an overall positive one. Most students are just there to pay attention and not mess around which helps. Although at times classroom disruption can be frustrating, the way it is handled usually solves that.

    4. I believe I learn in your classroom. You make sure to go over topics in a non-complicated way, which is easier to understand than having complex terms and not explaining them.

    5. I wouldn't say that you lecture too much. You also do a good job of sprinkling projects where it seems appropriate.

    6. I would say that I firmly preferred the way forum post commenting was graded last semester. It was harder to reply to five posts each week for me because of how busy I would be during the week and then again on some weekends. If the posts were graded like last semester, it would have been easier to plan for if I had more time to reply whenever instead of each week. If anything, this has been the thing that has been hurting not only my grade but the grade of a few others.

    7. I believe that the citizenship grade should remain. It is very beneficial and is an easy grade as well. It isn't hard for students to simply pay attention during class, which is where most of these points come from.

    8. My favorite part of the class is the fact that we are able to do projects/ tests with groups. My least favorite part would be the forum post policy.

    9. I do enjoy these methods of test-taking. Having different tests each time helps keep things fresh and alive during class. I would rather it change for each test than have the same form of test every time.

    • Thanks Angie!

    2) I think you are fair to everyone

3)Yes I think you classroom has a positive enironment because you take time to have conversations about the topoics we are learning too

    4) I think that I learn but sometimes I catch myself zoning out, if there was more interactive things I probably could pay attention more

    5) I think there are a good amount of presentations but I would like a couple easy projects

    6) I think forum posts are easy points and I like having those points, but i wish we could do more than five a week to get them done earlier

    7) I dont think it makes much of a difference if people are acting bad or not

    8) I like that we get to do groups tests and group work, I dont like that there is not much time to do projects

    9) Yes I like doingdifferent tests because I dont want to do groups all the time but I also would like some help on certain topics so its nice to have a group effort
