Should Teachers Be Aloud To Say "no" To Using The Bathroom

If you go to college, you'll see in every room students just get up and leave class to use the bathroom. If you have meetings or jobs, you have to dismiss yourself and go. So why in school do you have to ask? And what happens when they say no? There could be many different excuses your teacher gives you like, “ You went yesterday”, “You both cant go”, “you just came from lunch”, “ you had before class”, or even just “cause I said no”. All of these “excuses” are not important. If someone has to go to the bathroom they can't control that.

There are kids that try and go at the same time and mess around but even then, the teacher could have them go at different times. Or if there is already a kid in the bathroom, ask them to wait till they get back.  Saying no and asking a student to wait are two different things. If a teacher is in the middle of teaching they could ask you to wait till they're finished. When they straight up say no, you can't go at all. If a teacher says no and makes the child sit in class, the child could get a UTI by holding it in for so long. UTIs occur when bacteria makes their way into the urinary tract. That bacteria will sit and multiply and cause a very painful UTI.

In my opinion, I think teachers should not be allowed to say no. Every student has the right to be able to go to the bathroom when they need to. I don't think there's really a  good reason for a teacher to straight up say no. It's something you can't control and will get painful if it's not fixed in a certain amount of time. I also think its important for girls on their cyces to be able to use the bathroom freely.

Do you think teachers should be aloud to say no? If so why?

Can you think  of any good reasons a tecaher should say no?

  • I don't think that teachers should be able to say no to go to the bathroom. I do agree that a teacher can say no if there is someone already in the bathroom or that teacher has to make a quick announcement that they have to hear.

  • I don't think teachers should say no to using the bathroom. It's a basic human right. What are students supposed to do if they ask their teacher and they get told no. Unless the teacher know's for a fact their going to do something else other than use the bathroom.

  • it depends if the kids go every single day in almost every class then yeah I feel they have a right but if they don't go every hour and don't go every day on the same class then I feel that they do have a right to go and teachers should not say no

  • Great topic choice and well done Jaydn!  Be sure to spread out the days you comment as most were done on the 21st. Also, are there any court cases dealing with this?

  • I think teachers shouldn't be able to say no to going to the bathroom because of the harm of holding it in. I don't know really know any good reasons for why a teacher should say no to the bathroom, since it's something you can't really control.  If they don't want you to leave class immediately, then I think they should let you go as soon as possible...not just say NO.

  • I think that teachers should not be allowed to say no when people have to use the restroom. There are many reasons to why like emergancies. I feel when they say we could have gone another time like during lunch or passing periods is annoying because either we don't need to go then or we don't have time. We can't control our bladder. One good reason a teacher could say no is when students are taking a test but thats really it.

  • I do not think teachers should be able to tell kids no to using the restroom. If you have to go, you have to go. I do think that there is a right and wrong time to go, but if student asks during class they should be able to go.

  • I think teachers shouldn't be allowed to say no. Like you said, if a teachers says "you just came from lunch." Most people don't have to go then and after their food/drink settling might make them want to go. I do believe there is times that there is a good time to say no. For example, during tests. The student could be getting an answer.

  • I do not think that teachers should be allowed to keep a student from using the bathroom, but I can understand why they might. A lot of students who ask to go to the bathroom during class end up sitting on their phones and skipping class.

  •  I personally do not believe that teachers should have the right to withhold the bathroom from their students. Although I disagree with it, I can see why some teachers would not let students go to the bathroom. There are many students that misuse to bathroom and take the time they should be using to use the restroom to just sit on their phones or mess around more.
