The NCAA regulates college athletics and ultimately decides whether the athletes get paid or not. Within the last few years, people started to question if the NCAA was being unconstitutional by not allowing athletes to get paid. Many say it's not right because colleges are making so much money off their athletics and the athletes actually participating in the matter aren't getting any type of compensation. So the US Supreme Court had a case on whether or not these athletes should get paid. Ultimately, on June 21, 2021, the Supreme court decided that the NCAA cannot ban certain types of payments. California was the first state to pass an NIL law, followed by many other states.
Over the last few years of this debate there are two major opinions. Some people think that getting your eduction paid for is enough compensation for the college athletes. Along with this there aren't many collegiate athletes that move onto professional sports. Because of this, people believe that athletes should be utilising there scholarships and eductions, instead of focusing more on their sport and making money.
The other side to this argument is that they don't have time for jobs and since being an athlete is like having a full-time job. So then they should be compensated for all their hard work and dedication. Along with this, colleges make an extreme amount of money from the likeness of these players. Another argument to why these athletes should get paid is because they often live below the poverty line, along with their families. This money could really be important to these players that don't have time to get other income.
Personally, I believe that collegiate players should get some sort of compensation, but there should be a limit or cap on how much they're making. For many athletes it would be extremely beneficial. On the otherside they can't get too much because then when they have to get a different job they are not going to have the best money managment skills.

I think college athletes shouldnt get paid because they already get scholarships. If they also got paid it would take out more funds from the college and they already have scholarships anyways.
I think they should get payed because if there playing a sport they probably don't have enought time to have a job and they need some way to make money. I think they could get paid some and then I think there should be a scholarship with it.
I think college athletes getting paid is a good thing because they dont have time for a full time job and there is almost no other way for them to make money. I think they shouldnt get paid to much tho0ugh as many are onm scholership and the ones that arent on scholership dont play or contribute to much.
I think college athletes should not be paid since they aren't doing it as a profession but once they get to the professional level of sports they should be payed since it's their occupation. If they werre to get paid I think they should only be paid a small amount since they aren't a full-time athlete.
I disagree with you. This is because athletes don't have time for a job because they are so dedicated to their sport. How else could athletes make money and live without financial worry.
I believe that it is a good thing that college athletes get paid for Name Image and Likeness. I do think it's wrong if they would start getting paid on their preformance of play. But if it's promoting something on social media or something to that exstent I beileve its fine.
I think that college althletes should not get paid for many reasons. For some, they already are in some way with the scholarships they recieve providing tution to the college. There is so many ways to think about it but overall, I think it would do more harm then good.
I think that college athletes should get paid and I think how much should be based on how good they are however I think their should be a cop on how much money they can make because some college football players make more money then some people in the NFL.
I agree that athlete should be paid. I disagree that they should get paid based on how much they play. This is because every single athlete put the same amount of time and work in and don't get compensated.
