Red flag gun laws are when you think your son or anyone is violent and could possibly use a gun in a harmful way. So you can report it as a red flag and they can get their guns taken away temporarily, obviously with evidence. This can possibly help with stopping bad things from happening like violent shootings, murders/suicides involving guns.
Red fag gun laws save lives. There will rarely be an innocent person being in the situation because the judge needs evidence. Some things could be anything from a text to a post on social media. If someone files a false petition they could get a fine or jail time. Bipartisan support has helped this topic. (when two opposing parties agree to something)
Others differ on this law because David Krystyniak was mentally ill and got his firearms taken away twice and he ended up killing his mother with a samurai sword. This man didn’t just need his guns taken but he needed actual help. Guns are not the only harmful weapon.
I’m neutral on this. I support having these laws because they can help. Like Ethan Crumbley, the school was arranging a meeting with his parents the same day seeking help for him and his concerning behavior. I also believe just taking the gun wouldn't have stopped him from harming others still at that point.

I don't think that weapons should be taken away. Weapons/guns are used for safety but should be taken away from some people/families. If someone is threatening someone or a place they shouldn't be able to get their hands on guns that could kill someone.
I believe that red flag gun laws are important to have, seeing as how they can lead to prevent the killing of people. If someone is taking another's gun because of the fear that they might do something bad, then they should take away any other dangerous objects as well.
I think that the red flag gun laws could actualy be of some benifit to people out there because like you said, it could take people's guns away thus preventing massive disasters. I also think that all harmful weapons should be taken because they can do the same thing as a gun.
A mentally unstable person with a gun is a lot more dangerous than a mentally unstable person with a knife. While both are still dangerous the one with the gun is a much more dominant force that could cause a lot of trouble if allowed to keep going. Red flag gun laws seem to be a very important thing as they allow for suspicious people to be reported if they are carrying a firearm and plan on doing something unepic with it.
I definately think you should report if someone is going to do something bad and they should have their guns taken away. But you really don't know if the cops will get all the weapons. They could easily be hiding stuff.
I think that we should have red flag gun laws because they do help with stuff like school shootings, murder, suicides etc. also the same things with stuff like other weapons like knifes, swords etc.
Kind of like if its just a kitchen knife than I think that that would be fine but something like ex a samari sword should be taken away.

I think that these laws are put in place for a reason and even if they don't always help I think that they can do some help. They are a good way to keep people safe. Even if it doesn't work all the time, it wouldn't make sense to just get rid of it.
