Michael D. Cohen, whom was the former lawyer or "fixer" for President Trump testified publicly against Trump last Wedneday, Febuary 27. According to Cohen, Trump lied to the public about his business interests that were going to take place in Russia. He also spoke out about Trump allegedly knowing about the leaked emails against Democratic candaidate, Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. He said Trump was well aware that the emails were going to be leaked, and in fact wanted them to leak in order to dig up dirt against Clinton so it would be easier for him to win the election. However, Cohen admitted to not knowing of any collusion between Russia and Trump in the 2016 election. That confession was the only thing that was in favor of Trump. Cohen also spoke up about the alleged "hush money" that Trump used to cover up his sexual misconduct with a porn star. “He is a racist. He is a con man. And he is a cheat,” Mr. Cohen said about President Trump. Cohen does have prior history of lying about certain issues in the past, which makes it hard for some people to believe him. Of course, Trump came out and said that Cohen lied about 95% of what he said and that the only thing to be true was the fact that Trump did not have any collusions with Russia, as Cohen stated. Someone is clearly lying. The question is who? Clear here to read more.

- Is Cohen's confession believable considering he has some history of lying?

I think that what he said sounds pretty legit considering Trump also has history of lying. Also, Cohen admitted that the only reason he lied was to protect Trump and that he no longer wanted to protect him.

- If Trump is guilty of everything Cohen spoke up about, what consequence should Trump face?

I think impeachment would definately be the answer; that is if he is found guilty. We don't need someone like that setting an example for our country.

  • Good summary! Ber sure to look at the forum posts because there was already a story about Cohen. Also be sure to reply three different days.

  • I think that since he is going o jail no matter what he has no reason to lie so I think he is telling the truth. I think if everything is true then he will face impeachment or he might resign before facing that.

  • In my opinion, there is a good chance that Cohen is lying about Trump. Cohen doesn't have much to lose other than kicking Trump out of office. After all, it wouldn't even be very surprising if Trump actually did some of these things considering what many presidents in the past have gotten away with.

  • Cohen is not believable at all he lied and once he lies once as a high up government official he shouldn't be able to speak publicly about other government oficials. If what Cohen has said about Trump is true he should be impeached and then tried for the crimes he has commited but he needs to be found guilty first.

    • He did lie once which I understand that it makes him less reliable. However, he has every right to speak out about other government officials. Lol I don't understand why that is wrong?? I mean he is just trying to help let the truth out.

  • I think Cohen might be telling the truth on some things and could be lying or exaggerating on others. I don't know much about politics and the furthest I delve is watching the SNL skits about them, like their parody of Cohen's testimony. If Trump is indeed guilty of everything he should be punished and could get impeached.

    • I definately agree! He is probably exaggerating some stuff to make Trump seem more guilty to the people and the press. However, I don't believe he lied about everything, which some people believe. There really is no reason for him to lie.

    • That is a good point how Cohen could just be exaggerating some ideas. Trump already has a background of treating women unrightly, so Cohen may be trying to take advantage of this and exaggerate some possible stories about Trump.

  • I think that Michael Cohen is telling the truth, why would he tell a bunch of lies and then say 1 thing that is true? Plus I believe that Trump is going to say he is lying about everything he doesn't want people to know about him. I mean I wouldn't want people knowing that was doing illegal stuff.

    • Have you ever thought that it is possible to lie just because you want to kick somebody out of office? There are several situations in the past where people have been caught trying to lie in order to hurt other people. It is possible that these are not lies, but it is also possible that Cohen is just trying to tear Trump apart.
