History of the Olympics in Nazi Germany

The Olympics were given to Germany before Hitler came to power in 1936. Years before in the 1920 Olympics, Germany got disinvited to the Olympics, Germany got blamed for starting the war. Some of the French officials banned German athletes from the 1920 and 1924 Olympic games. Jewish and Catholic groups told the committee to boycott the Olympic games but was ignored. Also the Berlin olymipic games allowed to "Amid a Nazi regime" its intent to show Hitler superiority.

After the Olympics Germany had won 101 in total, 38 of them were gold medals and the United States had placed second in the games with 57 total medals.

When the Nazi party won the election, they decided to build a Olympic stadium shortly after. Later in 1994 the German government started the redevelopment of the stadium.

  • Good topic but I would like more of a focus on the US History related part. It would have also expanded your story as well.

  • I think that I would attend the olympic games if I had the chance. I don't think that it should've been boycotted or canceled because then we would not have the olympics witch is a big event for almost all sports around the world.

  • I've always wanted to attend the olympic games sometime in the future. I feel like it would be really fun and a once in a lifetime experience. Personally, I would want to see gymnastics or hockey in the olympics. I believe that boycotting would have been better than canceling it.

  • I think it would be super fun to attend and participate in the Olympics. In the summer games I would watch running, gymnastics, and swimming. In the winter games I would watch skiing and ice skating. I think the boycotting was better than canceling.

  • I think going to the Olympic games would be so much fun. It would be so interesting to see the best athletes in the world compete in person. I feel like the olympics should've been canceled anyways due to wartime and everything.

  • I want to attend the Olympic games at some point. I have always been interested in the Olympics, and would love to get to see the best athletes in the world compete. I don't think the Olympics should have been boycotted or canceled.

  • I would love to go to the Olympics games one day, even though I don't do high-performance sports, I really like to see how people enjoy competing in the sport they are passionate about. I don't think the Olympics should've been boycotted or canceled.

  • I probably would go the the Olympics because it sounds like it would be fun. I don't think that they should've been boycotted because Germany just happened to be the host once Hilter came to power.

  • I would love to go to the Olympics one day. My cousin attended the 2016 Rio Olympics and she said that it was one of the best experiences of her life. I think that keeping the Olympics back then was okay- it wouldn't have changed much with what was going on in Europe during that time.

  • No I wouldn't have attended because they were blatantly racist and monsters towards Jewish people. As well as that they were starting stuff. I think it should have been cancelled and ran somewhere else more safe and respectful to all people.
