History of Hunting

The history of hunting goes way back 2 million years ago. The cavemen only had hand-made wooden spears, bows, and arrows back then. Hunting was the only way they had to survive, they had to hunt every animal they could kill and use all of the resources of that animal. They would eat every piece of meat on the animal, use all of the bones as broad heads for the arrows, and make knives out of the bones. The cavemen would also use the hides from the animals as coats, blankets, etc.

A little over 500 years ago people and cavemen started to use guns to hunt for animals. They would use black powder rifles, which were also used during the Civil War. When they started using black powder rifles to hunt it became way easier to hunt, they did not have to get as close to the animals to kill them because they could reach out to a hundred yards with the black powder, compared to the spear and bow they had to be close.

Hanting has come a long way since 2 million years ago. Now we have rifles that will kill an animal at 500-600 yards with no problem. We also have new archery technology they will kill an animal at 70-80 yards compared to 2 million years ago you had to be within 15 yards because the arrow was moving so slowly and with the new technology they are making the arrows move way faster and are shooting a lot more accurate. The clothing has also come really far for hunting, there are hunting clothing brands that have come far and are selling one piece of clothing for over $500. I have always been a hunter and always will be.

Have you ever been hunting or would you want to?

If so what animals do you hunt or want to hunt?

Did you know that hunting has been around for this long?

  • I dodn't know that hunting has been around that long but it makes sense because people a long time ago also had to eat. I have never been hunting and I don't think I would really want to. I don't hvae a certain animal that I would want to hunt

    • It really surprised me also of how long it has been around. hunting is really fun and if you can do you should try it.

  • I have never been hunting but I think it would be fun to try out. If I hunted I would hunt whatever animal is the easiest. I didn't know that hunting was around for so long but I think it's cool.

  • I haven't ever hunted myself but I have always liked the idea of it It seems like fun running around to find a good spot to rest and set up a tent and wait then shoot at your food then make your food right then and there.  it is crazy that it has been around for over 2 million years.

    • I is really fun finding places to go, it takes a lot of work to find the right spot and get set up.

  • I have kind of been hunting before and when I went hunting we hunted coons. If I were to go hunting for anything I want I think I would want to go kill a grizzly bar and mount it. I kinda new hunting was around for that long because back in they day that's how they had to survive.

    • I have been coon hunting before, it is really fun and I enjoy coon hunting. A grizzly bear would be really cool to hunt and get mounted.

  • I've never been hunting before, and I don't think I want to try it. I don't like seeing blood and I don't think I'd actually be able to aim the gun and shoot. I knew that people have hunted for lots of years, but I didn't know they used animal bones for the arrow heads.

  • I have never been hunting  and have only ever shot a gun at pumkins. I would be willing to try hunting and would like to hunt whatever is the easiest animal that way I'd be more likely to sucseed. I didn't know hunting has been around so long.

    • I have shot at pumpkins before, it is fun when they blowup.
