In 2011, Amy Fry-Pitzen had signed her son, Timothy, out of school citing a family emergency. Three days later, the mother's body was found in a hotel in Illinois, in which she had committed suicide. Amy had left a note that stated that Timothy would be safe with people who would care and love for him. Also on the note said, "You will never find him." Four years later now, Timothy has still gone missing. There was a lot of talk whether she actually gave her son to someone who would care for him, or if she had killed him and disposed his body before she killed herself. The last image his dad, Jim, has of him was dropping him off to school and seeing him run to class. When Jim and Amy had met, Jim has figured out Amy was struggling with depression. In 2003, Jim got a call from the hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA stating that she had taken some pills and had been sitting on the edge of a cliff, passed out, and fell off. A year later, she gave birth to her son TImothy.

Questions:

1. What would you do if you were Timothy's dad?

2. What are your thoughts on where Timothy is? Do you think she gave him to someone or killed him?

  • Good job!

  • I would continue looking for him if I was his father but at some point you have to give up. She probably gave him to someone else because she said he will be with people who love and care for him

  • I wouldn't ever stop looking, but at some point you have to be able to give yourself a piece of mind and hope that maybe he's still alive, but can you live the rest of your life not knowing if your son is alive?

I kind of feel like she may have killed him before herself because I feel like after all these years he'd turn up, unless he's not in the country anymore.

  • If i was timothy's dad I wouldn't stop looking for him because that is your kid. i think that his mom actually gave timothy to someone because she was taking pills.

  • I think this is awful. I can't imagine when Jim is going through. His wife getting rid Timothy, whether by murder or actually giving him to someone else, and then killing herself. I would do whatever I could to try and find him.

  • I think that the mom killed him because I think if the people that the mother gave Timothy to would tell the police or say that they have him. She with that being said, I think that the mom killed Timothy and either buried him or put him somewhere.

  • I would be frantically looking for him not wanting to give up. I'm guessing the dad is probably now going through some depression issues himself. Not only had his wife committed suicide but she also either killed her son or gave him to someone to look after and nobody knows where. I don't really know what to think happened to Timothy best of hopes that he is living with a good family somewhere safe from harm.

  • That's a horrifying thing to experience, I can't imagine what his father feels like. If that were my child, I'd never stop looking. How could you? Not only did he lose his wife, but his son too? No way, I couldn't do it. Crazy that I've never heard this story before, hopefully he's okay and can be reunited with his family. If not, my condolences to them.

  • If I were Timothy's dad I would definitely keep looking for him, I wouldn't care how long it took, I would not stop until I found him. As far as anybody knows, Timothy could be anywhere, there is no lead whether he is with somebody else or dead, so we really have no idea.

  • I would do everything to find him, or figure out what happened. I think he is probably still alive. They would probably know by now if she killed him.
