A 63 year old women named, Linda Maddox from Tampa, Florida shot her grandson that is 7 years old. Linda was with her two twin grandsons. She put a chair against the door in her bedroom. She heard the door scraping against the floor around midnight. She thought it wouldn't be her son because she knew he was working the late shift that night. Linda grabbed for her pistol and shot her 7 year old grandson, Tyler Maddox in the body. The Department of Children and Families say the children remain in the custody of their father. Linda Maddox is not getting charged and the shooting is known as an accident but the investigation is still going.  In my perspective of this event that happened she should not have shot anyone until she saw and knew who it was.

Do you think the grandma should be facing charges and why?

  • Well done again! Good story and good job replying. Be sure to capitalize the words in the title.

  • I don't think she should be charged because she is already dealing with enough knowing that she shot her grandson. After all, it was an accident and she should have looked before she shot.

  • I think that she should get charged even though she is 63 years old. She's no different from anyone else. She murdered somebody no question. And she didn't even know who was at the door.  I get that maybe she was trying to defend herself in a way but the way she just shot the guy just seems a bit odd. So I think she should get charged.

  • Well when someone starts making noise at my door, I don't usually run to the gun cabinet and shoot anything at moves the second I open the door, but that's just me. even if it was an accident, she obviously had the intent of killing someone or something, so I do think there should be an investigation started, or a physiological test done.

  • I think that she should definitely be charged with attempted murder or abuse or something. I mean at the least you could put her in a nursing home if she's too old to be able to live by herself. This is the type of stuff that makes me scratch my head.

  • I think she should! Like you said, she shouldn't have shot anyone if she didn't know who it was or what was going on! Even if it was an accident, she should still be charged.

    • I agree

  • I think that she should face some type of charges. Even if you do not know who it is, there is no reason to shoot them. She may have been scared, but maybe her son got off early, or one of her grandsons needed something. She should not automatically think since she hears a noise, she should shoot them.

  • I don't think that she should face any charges. She was just trying to protect the kids. She should have waited but acted in self defense for the better of the kids.

  • I do think that she should be facing charges she shot her own grandson, even if she says it was an accident in self defense.  She didn't even see who it was she just shot.
