For those that don't know, Haiti is an island(connected with the Dominican Republic) in the Caribbean. It is one of the poorest nations in the world, so this happening is just devastating to the country. Below is a map of all the tectonic plates. It also shows where earthquakes happen. Read the about it here: http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/01/13/haiti.earthquake/index.html For those that don't know, Haiti is an island(connected with the Dominican Republic) in the Caribbean. I cant even imagine what those people are going through. Thousands are dying or are in very critical conditions. It is so hard to watch. I am very thankful for the food and shelter i have. Homes just crumbled and families will be burried there dead or alive. Mr. Bran i know has helped there before and was telling my sister's 7th grade history class all about it. He hopes to go down there again and help out this summer. Our church will also be donating aid packages to send to Haiti. Again living where we do today makes me so thankful.
I saw this on the news! This is terrible! :( I feel terrible for them! Is there anything our school can do to help them out? Maybe like a food drive, or donate the necessities or anything at all? Maybe even collect somthing as little as pennies?
This is absolutely horrible. I can't even imagine what those people are going through. I almost want to go down there and help out. I also can't beleive that they are already estimating nearly 500,000 deaths and even more injured and millions left homeless!
My dad and I were watching the news last night and this was obviously on. We started talking about the bodies, what are they going to do with all the dead bodies? Well I think they'll have to burn them. With all the devistation that happened they're not going to be able to find all of the dead bodies so those will end up being shovled out with all of the buildings. There's not enough room to burry all of these bodies and there's SO many that they'll have to burn the bodies. Luckily there's going to be 2,000 Marines going in there, so the situation would get better. This is very sad though.
