College Road Trip Gone Bad

A group of high school students were going to different colleges when one of the buses crashed into a FedEx truck. The students were heading to Humbolt State University in Arcata, California when a FedEx truck hit the charter bus. The truck crossed the median and hit one of the buses head on, causing a fire and spreading black smoke everywhere. Lt. Bruce Carpenter confirmed that the crash killed both drivers, 5 students and 3 chaperons, and 34 people were injured. Before hitting the bus, the FedEx truck sideswiped a car, and sending those people to the hospital for treatment.

I think this is really sad. That most students aren't able to go to college and live their lives.

What do you think? What would you do if this happened to you, or your family?

  • Well done!

  • This is quite a travesty. I really feel for their families because their children were taken from them with no warning

  • This is really sad. I wonder what made the FedEx truck spin around and crash like that?

  • that's too bad the driver may of been on his phone and not watching the road.

  • This does stink cause they were going to create a future for themselves and it got cut short. I would feel mortified if i was the driver of the FedEx truck.

    • I would feel the same if I was the driver.

  • I think this is a tragedy. I feel terrible the families that are involved. Death of a loved one is always hard.

  • I think people need to pay more attention to when they are driving so that we could possibly lower the accident numbers down. I would be worried if this happened to my kids during their trip.

  • I saw this on the morning news the day after it happened. They said that the FedEx truck was trying to switch lanes, and the bus was probably just in it's blind spot. This should just be a reminder to every driver about how vulnerable you really are on the road, and before you change lanes, you're suppose to look over you're shoulder into you're blind spot.
