Captial Youth Day Opportunity

Here is a great opportunity for students interested in politics. Check out the attached flyer for more details and read below as well. Last year, Alex S.(recently moved) went and really enjoyed it. You can see a blog about it here: http://hchsnews.blogspot.com/2008/04/capital-project-alex-and-alyssa.html Dear Teachers and Administrators, Iowa Secretary of State Michael A. Mauro invites you to participate in Capitol Youth Day 2009. Capitol Youth Day (CYD) is an annual event at the State Capitol for students in grades 6-12. CYD promotes civic participation and a better understanding of the governing process. During CYD ’09, students will have the opportunity to meet with Secretary of State Michael A. Mauro, statewide elected officials and state legislators and watch the legislative process in action from the Senate and House galleries. I have attached a copy of the brochure to this email. In this brochure there is instructions on how to sign-up for Capitol Youth Day ’09, a sample of the day’s agenda, and contact information if you having any questions. You also will be able to access the brochure and sign-up form from our website at www.sos.state.ia.us. Register early because space in limited! Sincerely, Gina Fontanini - office of the secretary of state 1007 e grand ave I state capitol I room 105 des moines I iowa I 50319 [o] 515.281.6230 I [f] 515.242.5952 [e] gina.fontanini@sos.state.ia.us
