5-Year Old Finds This In Her Nose

Little 5 year old Katelyn started having a runny nose and her Mom Chloe thought it was no big deal, it's probably just a normal cold. They waited for it to get better, but it didn't. So Chloe took Katelyn to the hospital to get checked out. The doctors examined her and didn't find anything. They prescribed some medication, but that didn't do anything either. One day, Katelyn blow her nose really hard and something odd came flying out.  It was a safety pin! It is said that Katelyn probably put in her nose when she was younger and it was just now bothering her. Oddly, this story is very common and happens to kids all the time.

Questions:

1. What would your reaction be if your child had this happen to them?

2. Would have mistaken this for a regular cold and just waited for it to get better?

  • Good job!

  • I think my reaction would be total shock! I would be worried that my child was getting better, definitely after doctors examined it, but I think that doctors could've done a better job looking. Its hard telling with things like this whether it could be a cold and allergies, but if it continued I would've asked doctors to take a more extensive look.

  • I would probably be a little freaked out at first but then I would be fine because she would be fine. I would probably have mistaken it for a regular cold and waited for it to get better just because it was a runny nose.

  • Wow what a crazy story! If she was my daughter I would be in shock and I wouldn't know how to react to it. I'm sure I would have mistaken it for a regular cold, but that's just crazy. I wonder how long the safety pin had been in her nose.

    • Ya this isn't your typical everyday story. I don't know how anyone could have known that there was a safety pin in her nose

  • I would be very surprised if I found a safety pin that came out of my childs nose. I would wonder how on earth it got there and when it got there.

I would have just thought it be normal for a runny nose and I would just think it be wierd if it was constantly causing pain then I might take them to the doctor.

    • I agree with you that if they were having pain then I would take them in because usually you don't pain with a runny nose.

  • I would be freaked out for sure! She was lucky it wasn't unhooked and didn't stab her. I would have mistaken it for a cold because that's what happens when you have a runny nose.

    • I would also be freaking out. It is very unusual for a safety pin to be someone's nose. That would have been terrible if it was stabbing her.

  • It's kind of odd that no one especially the doctors couldn't find this, and if the kid is 5 years old I think that'd be old enough to say "hey, I put something in my nose!" If it were my kid I would be in shock
