3-year-old ejected in crash where alcohol appears to be factor

Around 2:45 p.m. the Dodge County Sheriff's Office responded to a single-vehicle crash on Town Road MM, west of Jefferson Road, in the township of Ashippun. Noelle E. Deehr, 32, of Horicon, was driving west on Town Road MM in a 2005 Ford SUV when she lost control, causing the SUV to enter the south ditch. The SUV hit a steep embankment and a utility pole. A 3-year-old was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release. The child was flown from the scene by Flight for Life. Deehr was not injured in the crash, officials said. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

1.) Do you think she should get charged for the daughter being with her, and why?

2.) What are other options the mom could have picked, rather than driving while drinking.

My opinion:

I think she should get charged with child endangerment for sure, and also anything else that comes along with drinking and driving. The mom obviously had alot and way better options like , simply not driving or  have someone else drive her, rather then driving drunk and risking her, her daughter, and someone else life.

  • Yes I think it should be child endangerment because that is dangerous. The mom could of chose to not drink in the first place.

  • I think the mom should get charged because if she knows she has the baby or drive around with it. I think that the mom should have made a smarter choice or just have left the baby home with a babysitter. I think she should have called her husband/boyfriend or a friend to drive her home. Because doing that not only does it risk your and your daughter life it risk others.

  • I think that the mom should be charged for DUI and not properly securing her child in the car because she has now harmed both herself and her toddler which will take effect on the toddler's body for the rest of her life. The mom could have done anything other than drinking and driving like walking (depending on how far away it is), asking someone for a ride, or, if it was a run out for groceries or something, waited until she was no longer influenced.

  • I think she should be charged with putting her child in danger and CPS should take care of it. I think that the mom could have called someone, a cab, a friend, anyone else then to drink and drive.

  • Yes because you should drive yourself let alone your kids when your drunk.

Called someone to come get or her.

  • Yes, because the mother should not have been drinking and driving, it endangers other drivers, and especially not if she had her daughter in the car.  She should want to keep her daughter safe and she was not thinking about her daughter at the this time and should be charged.  The mother could have done many different things other than driving, such as just staying where they were or calling someone else anything other than driving.

  • Yes the mom should be charged for drinking while intoxicated. She should not have drove her daughter while drunk. She could've asked someone else for a ride, not been drinking around her daughter or simply walked. She risked so many lives in this situation. I hope she learns not to drink and drive, and I hope her daughter is okay.

  • Yes I do think this mother should be charged due to the fact that she put this child in danger and could have killed the child. This mother could have easily called a friend or relative to pick them up instead of risk their lives being drunk and driving.

  • I think she should be charged with drunk driving and should have the baby taken away from her until she can realize the effect alcohol is having on her. She could have called other family members or a taxi. Anything is better than driving drunk especially when you have a young child with you.
