11 Year Old Died After Refusing Chemo

http://www.foxnews.com/health/2015/01/23/investigation-launched-into-death-girl-11-who-died-after-refusing-chemo/

A 11 year old named, Makayla Sault has a cancer called leukemia. This was last year when she was taking chemotherapy for 12 weeks. When in May of last year she wanted to stop taking chemo. This 11 year old died that next Sunday. Doctors said it was from a stroke that was caused from this chemotherapy. The chemotherapy did lots of damage to her body. The doctors say that Makayla had no signs of cancer when she died on that Sunday. She told the news that the cancer was gone and it was all up to god to chose where she was going to go for the rest of her life. In the end of this article it said that There is a 17 year old in Connecticut being forced to take chemotherapy not by her choice. In this story I thought it was sad but things happen and you just have to move on. I could not imagine being in the family's shoes.

Do you guys believe that you shouldn't have a choice in if have to take chemotherapy or not?

Do you think it was right they were blaming Makaylas stroke on the cancer treatment.

  • Good job overall! Try to stay away from yes and no questions next time though.

  • Chemotherapy is a very dangerous treatment. Chemo doesn't know the difference from a healthy to a cancerous cell, which makes it kill everything in it's path. Yes, it's very dangerous. I think that it should be your choice to have your body undergo such terrible things, cancer or not, it is your body. I think that chemo probably caused her stroke.

    • I agree it is very dangerous

  • I feel that it comes to a certain age when you should get to decide or not im gonna put that age around 10. I think it is perfectly right to be blaming the stroke on that cancer treatment. My grandma actually had leukemia to and her treatment really messed her up but in the end i  did save her life. This treatment almost gets to were your dead and thats when you have to fight the hardest to come back.

  • It is your right to choose whether or not you want to take chemo. although ultimately chemo gives you a chance. It could very well be that the chemo was a factor in the stroke.

  • I think that you should have a choice when taking chemotherapy because it is your body and some people just don't have the strength or will to fight. I also think that it's okay to be blaming chemo because it does do a lot of damage to the body.

    • I agree your right some people don't have enough strength

  • I believe that you should have the choice it is you body and you do with it as you will. If it was the reason for her death then yes but if it was not then no.

    • I agree also.

  • I think that you should have a choice because it's your life and you should be the only one to decide what should happen to it.
