An 11 years old boy from Talladega Alabama opened fire and wounded a man breaking into his home. The boy was home alone and he said he heard something and realized someone else was inside. He grabbed the 9mm handgun and the boy followed him outside and on the 12th shot hit the man in the leg.

- Why do you think that the boy went for the gun instead of just calling the cops
If someone was in my house taking things I would either hide or try to stop them and the boy most likely went for the gun because he though the cops wouldn't get there quick enough.

I would find a weapon and call the cops
the kid probably was scared and worried if he would come back,And he probably thought catch him now then later.
I would hide and call the police, I personally don't think kids should have any access to guns unless it's for hunting reasons or something like that with an adult.. Maybe the kid felt like his life was at risk
I would hide and call the police or I would go downstairs and climb out the basement window to escape to a neighbors house. I think maybe because he knows how to handle them well and he didn't have enough time to think rationally.
I agree I would probrobly call the police and I also agree on that he knows how to use weapons.
I think the gun was the right call for the situation because by the time the cops would have got there it would have been hard to get him, but since he shot him there is going to be a easier chance of finding someone shot, than not.
I don't know if a gun was the right call because he could have just taken a picture of him and whet ever he was stealing and turn that into the cops.
I would probably do the same thing as the kid did, because the cops wouldn't have got there in time
I think the kid could have taken a picture instead of possible killing the guy.
I would grab something to defened myself. I think he toom the gun to defend himself and if he would have been on the phone he might was scared that the person thats in the house could hear him
