The U.S.-Mexico border stretches for nearly 2,000 miles, running from the Pacific Ocean in the west to the Gulf of Mexico in the east. It passes through deserts, mountains, rivers, and urban areas, making it a difficult terrain to manage and patrol. The border separates the United States and Mexico.
Since 9/11 border security has been a high priority for the government The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was created after 9/11 and mainly focused on stopping terrorists from going through the border. It also focused heavily on drug trafficking. After 9/11, we built the wall fence set up cameras around the area, and put drones watching the area.
One of the most concerning parts of the US-Mexico border is immigration. Millions upon millions of immigrants try to - come over the border from Mexico and other Latin countries. The reason they try to cross the border is in search of better economic opportunities, safety, and a better life. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were approximately 12 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States as of 2020, many of whom have lived in the country for years or even decades.
The U.S.-Mexico border also has significant economic and social implications. On the one hand, immigration from Mexico and other Latin American countries provides labor for many industries in the United States, such as agriculture, construction, and hospitality. Immigrants contribute to the economy through taxes, spending, and their role in the workforce. On the other hand, some argue that illegal immigration can strain public services and increase competition for jobs, particularly in low-income communities.
The United States-Mexico border is a focal point of many important issues, from national security to immigration policy to the social and economic impacts of immigration. As the U.S. continues to grapple with these issues, it is clear that the border represents not just a physical barrier but also a complex intersection of political, social, and humanitarian concerns. Moving forward, it will be essential for lawmakers to find a balance between securing the border and protecting human rights.

Even if I think immigrants are providing more bad than good to our country, I will still try and see both sides of this agrument. If you look at how the economy has been affected by a weak border that has let tons of immigrants in, you will see that it has given our economy a big advance as many more people have to buy necessities.
1.) To be honest, I think they hurt and help the economy. When they obtain jobs, they help the economy by working and helping companies, but they are taking jobs away from US citizens, causing US citizens to be unemployed.
I would agree exepet most of them do jobs americans dont want to do like roofing
I think that the border is not secure now and something needs to be done about this as soon as possible. The border needs to be closed and controlled. Letting immigrants inside our country is causing many crimes and deaths of innocent americans. If an immigrant really wants to move into the United States they can go through all the paper work and do it the legal way.
I agree I feel like the border is not very secure right now
I think that immigrants help the economy. Their still people, just from another country. Just because their foreign doesn't mean they shouldn't be treated as humans. I don't think the border is like top tier secured but I do think that the border does stop a lot of drug smuggling. I also think that immigration laws in the U.S are harsh, and I think if an immigrant can pay taxes, work, and live here for over a decade they should be awarded citizenship.
I agree with pretty much everything you said I don't think immigrants are hurting the economy theyre actually doing the opposite. The USA was founded on the idea that you can leave a place of opression and "achieve the american dream" so why not extend this generousity to immigrants today?
I think that the border should be closed and finished, so then the American citizens can be safe. I think that some immigrants help the economy by their hard work but they also cause soaring housing costs and exacerbating the affordability crisis.
I agree with you because the bored should be closed unless an immigrant is corking to America legally. Otherwise I think that the border needs to be closed and secured because the illegals steal jobs from working Americans and that is bad for the economy.
I agree with you. We can't seem to figure out how to keep it secure and every day we have hundreds of people coming. If the government can't find a way to make it so people don't come in, I think we should just close it all together.
