In the United States, we as a nation, put a lot of chemicals on our crops to keep bugs off, and to keep them fresh. Some of the pesticides we use in our country have been banned in other countries. Certain chemicals that we use have been linked to serious illnesses such as cancer and neurological disorders. Pesticides also hurt the environment and poison the soil.
Several pesticides we use regularly in the U.S. have been banned or severely restricted in other countries. Some include: Paraquat, Atrazine, and Acephate. These chemicals are used on corn, cotton, and soybeans in the United States. A significant reason why these pesticides are banned is because there is a high potential link to Parkinson's disease. Another chemical called Glyphosate, mainly used on wheat, has been found to cause many gluten sensitivities and celiac disease cases. Glyphosate harms the bacteria in our gut causing some people unable to digest wheat. While in other countries that don't use this chemical, people with gluten sensitivity found that they were able to digest wheat better than they were able to in the United States.
Not only are these chemicals bad for us, but they are also bad for our environment. The runoff from the chemicals is affecting wildlife, soil, water, ecosystems, and even global warming. The purpose of the chemicals is to only kill bugs and weeds. Since the bugs are becoming immune to the chemicals, we have had to make them stronger. They are so strong that they are killing birds, fish, mammals, and destroying ecosystems. When pesticides are produced, transported, or used they’re releasing greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gasses play a big part in climate change.
Do you think that we should slow down the usage of pesticides in the U.S.?
Should we try to find an alternative to these harmful chemicals?
Do you think people in the U.S. would see changes in their health if we stopped using these chemicals?

I agree with you, these chemicals are killing so many more things that just bugs. They are becoming more stronger and its not good becuse the bugs are starting to get used to them so they have to make them stronger. Otherwise they are not working
I agree with you, not only are these chemicals no longer killing the bugs, they are affecting the plants, the enviroment, and wildlife. The pesticides are becoming stronger because the bugs are beginning to be immune to them, with the stronger chemicals it is farther affecting the enviroment. If we slow down the use of them I think it will be very helpful in many different ways.
I think it's time to find safer alternatives to pesticides. These chemicals don't just affect bugs, they affect people, animals, and even soil and water. Pesticide runoff can kill ecosystems, and bugs are becoming immune, so we just keep using stronger and stronger chemicals. If we found more natural ways to protect crops I think it could help keep us healthy and the ecosytem surronding it.
I agree with you. This is a very serious issue and very dangerouse pesticides killing our enviorment.
I completely agree. These pesticides are very dangerous and are killing our enviornment. More natural pesticides would be very benifical for all plants and animals, including us humans.
I agree with you, finding safer alternitives would be good since as you mentioned they don't only affect bugs, humans and soil are affected too.
I think people in the U.S would have many health benefits and an overall health boost if there was an alternative found for the pesticides. If pesticides are truly linked to parkinsins disease then it would be even more helpful to the population if they were limited.
I agree. I think if we were to find an alternate, we would see less health problems in the United States. People in the U.S. could live longer and healthier lives, if we were to limit the use of pesticides or find an alternate.
I definitely think we should slow down the use of pesticides in the U.S. There's a lot of evidence showing how harmful they can be to people and the environment. If certain pesticides are banned in countries because they are linked to diseases like celiac, we should take that seriously and think about banning them too. I believe if we reduce our use of chemicals, people in the U.S. could see big improvements in their health.
I agree, if the United States were to ban these chemicals in pesticides, we would see lots of changes in the overall health of the people in the U.S. The countries who have already banned these, don't have near as much health problems as the U.S.
