Tradionally favored by private schools, school uniforms are being adopted by public schools in the US. Most school uniforms are required by elementry schools more than middle schools and high schools. The first recorded use of school uniforms was in England in 1222, when a school called the Archbishop of Canterburry made the students wear a robe like outfit called the "cappa clausa". Later in time the school uniform became associated with the upper class and mostly were worn by Englands most respected schools. School uniforms in the US were mostly reserved for only private schools, But in the late 1800's the government mandated boarding schools for Native American Children to wear millitary inspired outfits.
Most people think that we should have school uniforms for alot of reasons. Number 1 they are known to lower crime and increase student saftey becuase they dont allow for students to hide weapons under baggy clothes or make an intuder in a school alot easier to see becuase they aren't wearing a school uniform. Another reason people think we should have school uniforms is becuase it allows students to be focused on their work and not their clothes. It allso allows people to fit in much better. Some cons of not having school uniforms is it dosen't actually lead to less bullying. “Overall, there is no evidence in bullying literature that supports a reduction in violence due to school uniforms, explains Tony Volk, Associate Professor at Brock University. Another con of not having a school uniform is that school uniforms do not approve schoold attendance, academics, or test results. A study that anylized 10th graders found no effect on behaveiral problems, substance use on campus like nicotine, and no effect on pro school attitudes. They are also often ichy and make kids less engaged on their work and more worried about their clothes.
In my opion I don't think that we should have school uniforms becuase it is proven that is does not approve bullying or something like school attendance. Though it might make

I would not wear a school uniform to school, because I feel like I should be able to wear what I want. I don't think that I would improve because I feel like the clothes people have on is there choice and its not destracting, unless you make it destracting. I dont think we should have it I belive that people should wear what they want, but still have a school dress code.
I think school uniforms are fine but they don't really make a big difference. I don't think the way you dress is not going to improve attentiveness or test scores. If schools want to use them then that is fine but I don't think that they're necessary either.
I think people should wear what they want. Although uniforms could be benifical in a setting where you are paying for exspensive schooling, then you shouldn't be obligated to pay and wear something no one wants the wear.
Personally, I think that I wouldn't wear a school uniform because I like having the choice to wear what I want. Plus there is liitle evidence showing that uniforms improve scores and overall academic performance. School uniforms get boring and attentitive skills go down, I wouldn't like to see myself wearing the same outfit everyday.
I agree,I would never want to wear a school uniform because I like having the freedom to wear whatever I want. I also don't think that wearing a school uniform would not improve test scores or acedemics.
I don't think wearing a school uniform would help improve test scores but it might help with attentiveness since I wouldn't be worried about what I had to wear that day. School uniforms are meant to make people look formal and fit in with everybody else, it doesn't allow people to be different and dress how they want to dress.
I do not think that having uniforms would improve academic skills. Students should be able to express themselves and wear what they feel comfortable in at school. Although, dress codes can always be applied to keep it casual and more formal.
I don't think we should have school uniforms because making sure you have your uniform and wearing them every day just feel boring. I have gone to a school where we had to wear uniforms, and I dindn't like it at all. Because making sure that my uniform is clean everyday, and wearing the same outfit its just feels bland. We schools let people wear what people want as long if it appropriate and people get to be more happy showing their friends cool and nice outfits making the school more and the people more exotic.
I agree, I wonder if schools get to have dress up days like we do during homecomeing or other events like that. And everybody walking around in the same outfit would be boring. Kids getting to show off their clothes is one way they get to have fun, and that would be bad if we took that away from them.
I would wear a school uniform if I had to, but I would rather wear street clothes if i had the choice.
I think if the uniforms were comfortable they could help with attetiveness.
