Plastic Surgery

In the last 2 years about 26.2 million people around the world have gotten plastic surgery. People may ask why do people get it, or when did it even start, how did they even come up with plastic surgery?  What are some of the most common plastic surgeries? I will talk about all of these questions that people have. Starting on when it got popular and when it started.

Plastic surgery started a long time ago, around 800 B.C. The plastic surgery they did back then was just a simple reconstructive and work on the skin, grafts were used in Ancient India to make them. But in 1460 A.D, the first known medical text for plastic surgery procedures was created and the precursor was called a "nose job.” Then in the 1700s Western doctors visited Eastern nations and began bringing back procedures to Europe, where the practice began to develop into the specialty we know today.  Then over the 1700s people started using skin grafting more often, then in 1827 the first cleft palate operation was performed in the New World. Then the 1800-1900s Wars in different areas of the world became the driving force for plastic surgery developments. Then in the 1930-1940 The American Society of Plastic Surgeons was founded, as well as the American Board of Plastic Surgery, to make plastic surgery better. But in 1962 A woman in Texas became the first person to receive silicone breast implants.

Now I'll  talk about what's the most common plastic surgery. Well a lot of people get the same plastic surgery but which one? The top cosmetic surgeries are breast augmentation which are increasing the size of the chest area, liposuction are decreasing the waist part making you look skinny, nose reshaping is decreasing the size of your nose, eyelid surgery which is removing a skin part of your eyelid, and facelift is removing the wrinkles from your face. But remember this affects about 26.2 million people that get it, and it doesn't always go well. For example people can get infection from it if not properly done well by the surgery, usually this happens outside of the United States because other countries don't have the machinerie like the U.S. has. Also about 93 people have died from it during 2009–2022 U.S. citizens died after receiving cosmetic surgery in the Dominican Republic.

What I think about this is I don't think people should get it in general, but if it is for the better of them maybe they should. People can't really control what they do to their own body so if they want to look really good go ahead but I personally don't like it. For the risk it has that it could look bad on you and costing a lot of money to do it, I just don't think it's worth it to mess up your whole body for face just to look good, and the other risk of dying for it. But what are your thoughts on it?

What do you think about this ?

Should people keep doing plastic surgery or should they stop it?

Would you ever get plastic surgery?

  • I dont think plastic surgery should  be available to people who use it for things like different sized body parts it should be allowed to people who got injured in an accident like a fire or car crash.

    • I agree with how you said that it should be available to people who got into a car accident. To add on to that, I think that it could be allowed for others but only if they have a condition that is really bad or really disfigured looks and not for people who don't have anything like that wrong with them.

  • IN my opinion, I think that plastic surgery is helpful in many ways. In some instances, fire victims may need plastic surgery from a traumatic event. In other ways, you could modify your mody to look a certain way. I think is helpful to many people and should be practiced by professionals.

    • I agree with this because in some casese people want to have plastic surgery after a horrible accident they had in the past. In other ways it makes them feel more comfortbly and don't have to worry about covering their face anymore.

  • I think if you get plastic surgery that's kinda sad but if you have enough money to do it and you really want to do it, then why would I care? No, I would never get plastic surgery unless a bear tore off my face or something.

    • I agree with you bacause if people want to get plastic sergery and they have the right amount of money than why should other people care because its not like your the one even getting the plastic sergery on yourself so why should that matter to you what others are doing to change their bodys.
