MJ or LeBron, GOAT?

People have been wondering for years, decades on who is better: Micheal Jordan or Lebron Raymone James. There are so many concepts that MJ is better but same for Lebron, like people would say that Mj never loses a NBA Championship. But Lebron beat the record for being the oldest player in the NBA (currently) and also beating the most career points ever with 38,390 points and still going. It just shows that both of these stars changed the way of basketball and made the game better. But the question is, who made it better? The debate about who is the true "G.O.A.T."-Between Michael Jordan and LeBron James has been a hot topic of debate for years.

Michael Jordan, with his six NBA championships and perfect 6-0 Finals record, is often celebrated for his unmatched competitiveness and clutch performances. His influence transcended the basketball court, turning him into a global icon and helping to elevate the NBA's popularity worldwide. Jordan's scoring, defense, and leadership level have not been matched, in sheer legacy and influence over the game. His Air Jordan brand remains one of the largest in sports, forever placing him in that context of cultural and sporting lore.

On the other hand, LeBron James is credited with having an amazing career that has lasted for more than two decades, characterized by versatility, basketball IQ, and sheer leadership.Four NBA championships with various appearances at the Finals demonstrate how dominant he has been from different teams at different eras. Adaptation of the game and maintaining elite-level performances to his 40th year speak more about longevity than work ethic, though it should be credited equally. But for his achievements in the court and beyond that  of an activist person, this sets the seal in the G.O.A.T. case. Although some may believe Jordan's legacy cannot be touched, LeBron's well-rounded game and continued greatness are the stronger case to earn him the title of G.O.A.T. Lebron forever 💗

  • Many people would make the argument of how many finals series being 10 to Jordan's 6. I believe there's an easy counterargument to this: Lebron had superteams behind him. Granted the 2007 Cavs were not stacked they still had good talent and ended up getting swept by the Spurs, mind you Jordan never got swept in the finals. On Lebron's Miami Heat team, he had Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh backing him up, both Wade and Bosh are in the hall of fame. Lebron's 2015-18 Cavs team was backed by Kevin Love an extremely talented big man and Kyrie Irving, who was one of the best point guards in the league at the time. Finally the finals run in the bubble in 2020 with the Lakers. Lebron had help from Anthony Davis, Dwight Howard, and Kyle Kuzma. In the end I think Lebron has been very fortunate with a extensive career, but I don't think that seperates him as the G.O.A.T. And I firmly believe Michael Jeffrey Jordan is and will forever be the greatest basketball player of all time.

  • One change between Lebron and Jordan's era was defense, or lack thereof. As yet there's another category that Jordan reigns supreme, with Jordan winning defensive player of the year in 1988. While Lebron is seen by most of the NBA as someone who "flops" and "cries to the refs."

  • Another thing you mentioned was Jordan being undefeated in the finals. I believe that this solidifies Jordan as the goat because he lead the 90's Bulls to 2 3-peats. These Bulls teams were NOT superteams, in fact they were the complete opposite. Scottie Pippen was known as Jordan's Robin, however during an interview Pippen went on to hate on Jordan despite all of Jordan's success and flat-out carrying Pippen to 6 titles.

  • I also believe that having the most points doesn't make you the greatest, Lebron's career stats were boosted by the advancement of the 3 point line, where people in Jordan's era rarely shot 3s, and driving to the paint and shooting mid ranges was always the norm. I believe that if the 3 point line was as popular in Jordan's era as it is in Lebron's, then Jordan was easily be one of the top scorers despite not playing as long.

  • Although I believe Lebron is a very respectable basketball player and easily top 3 of all time, I also believe that longevity is not always a good argument, I believe that the present NBA that Lebron plays in is soft and Lebron is a following this trend.

  • They both are very good players. They might even be the best of the best. They each have 1 uped eachother in some way. Like LeBron has made it to 10 championship. MJ is a very competive player that a lot of coahcers are looking for in a player.

  • I believe that they're many different opions people may have on these 2. In my opion they both have had a great basketball caree. This topic could go on and on about who is better.

  • I think this topic could have many different answers. Both of the players are well known and have both had great carreers. It is interesting to see everybody's opinion on who they think should take the title of the "G.O.A.T."

    • I fully agree with you on this. They're many different answers to this type of post. They both are very good players who made a great caree for themselfs.
