Hurricane Helene's Destruction Path

Hurricane Helene left floods and death behind its 500 mile path of detruction from its wind and fifthteen foot storm surge. On monday September 23 the National Hurricane Center in miami was warned about a tropical storm forming in the Carribbean Sea. Tuesday it was projected to the the north eastern gulf. Wednesday it upgraded to a category 1 hurricane and was projected to hit florida and head for tennesee. on thursday in the gulf it ramped up to a category 4 about to hit the coast of florida. friday, storm surge flatten coastal communities and blew building in to pieces. it was down graded to a tropical storm but that didn't stop it from causing chaos in georgia and the carolinas. saturday, north carolina waters were just receding, the road around the state were, for the most part, closed because of flooding or debris, and ashvillie was still under water a local sheiff even stated "to say this caught us off-guard is an under statement."

I think this storm was a terrible tragedy. and while some damage and loss lives could have been avoided with proper preperations, you can't blame the people. now while it's not impossible it's not ever day a massive devestating hurricane rips through north carolina. that's probably what most people thought that live there. they probably though it was no big deal. hurricanes are some of the most devistating natural disasters out there they destroy homes, buisnesses, and most importantly familys. i feel terrible for the ones who lost loved ones during this tragedy.

what do you think about this tragedy?

do you think it was avoidable?

if you lived in north carolina would you have stayed?

  • I think that this is considered a devestation in the country. This strom took lives and homes away from innocent people. I don't know if it was avoidable though. I think if the world helped with global warming, maybe. If I was living in North Carolina, I would have left as soon and I heard the news.

  • I think the storm was terrible and it causes alot of destruction and damage. I don't think you could have avoided the hurricane. Your house and all of your belongings couldn't really avoid it. I don't think I would have stayed if there was a hurricane going on because you never know how bad it is going to be.

  • I think that there was lots of destruction and damamge done and that it wasent very avoidable. I think there was things you couldve done to help protect your house and property but thats all. I think that it was awful at the things that were damamged and money that was lost and even lives that were lost.

  • Do you think it was avoidable? I don't think that hurricane Helene was avoidable. There is no way to stop hurricanes from hitting, therefore people need to take precautions whenever there is the possibility of a bad storm. These people didn't think it was going to be that bad so they hardly prepped. This ended up being terrible for them as their communities were destroyed.

  • I think this huricane caused a calamity, destroying buildings, houses, supermarkets ext. many familys have been impacted by this hurricane because of their houses being destroyed and food supply lost.

    • i agree, this hurricane really mess the lives of families up, less food, less water, less gas, and homes.
