Fox News downplays protests after inauguration

On the 20th of January president Trump was sworn into office. Most major news channels covered this. fox news was called out for not showing coverage of the woman's march this Saturday. They instead decided to show president Trump at a prayer service rather than the estimated 500,000 protesters. By mid-morning CNN and MSNBC had turned more so to the protesters. Fox did not and Trump sent them a tweet of praise for it. Fox did not even acknowledge that it happened. The other two stations repeatedly said how surprised they were at how many protesters there were in all the cities around. The march was for woman having abortion rights.

If you were in position of Fox news what would you have done?

Why do you think that Fox news never had any coverage of it even before Trump tweeted at them?

If I was in the position of Fox news I would have gone straight to coverage of the protesters not only because it would have gotten more viewers attention but also because it deserves to be shown more then Trump at church was basically what it was. I feel that Fox didn't have any covrage of the protests because they might have thought that it would turn many viewers against them. I feel though that it would have gained them viewers.

  • Good story choice! Be sure to capitalize words in your title and also comment more.

  • If I were in the position of Fox News, I would've aired coverage of the Women's March. I think that the Women's March deserved at least a few words, considering the amount of women that participated around the country.  However, considering that Trump had just recently been inaugurated, I would've covered that story as well.  I know that Fox News is a more Republican-leaning news station, so it doesn't surprise me that they focused solely on Trump.  However, I think Fox should've covered both stories to show respect and try to keep everyone happy.

  • I would've covered the protest, personally I think that Fox news turned the cheek when talking about the protesters. I feel that the protest was extremely important because people who protest are passionate and want something change and I think by them not being shown took away the power they worked for as a protester. I think that Trump may have told them not to just start up a controversial story to give him even more publicity.

  • If I was in the position of Fox news, I would've made the women's right march my secondary news story. I would've showed it but not for very long. I would rather make my main headline about the new President. Fox news probably didn't cover the protest because they wanted to focus more on the new president and most likely didn't support abortion.

  • If I was in the position of Fox news I would have mentioned the protests but that wouldn't have been my sole focus. I would probably cover both stories. I don't think Fox news covered the protests as much because it is a more Republican news station and Republicans are pro-life so they probably didn't to cover protests going against what they believe in.

  • Fox, which is more on the Republican side, probably didn't show as much of the march because Republicans are Pro-life and don't believe in abortion. Personally, I don't believe in it because it's killing innocent children who can't stand up for themselves. Fox probably wanted to focus more on the new president and all the changes/events occurring.

    • honestly i did not know that fox was a more republican news station. me personally i do not believe in abortion for the same resin you do. and i could any news station focasing more on trump then the march.

  • I think I would mention the women's rights march but I wouldn't carry it out for a long time. Fox news is a republican station and they are against Democrats and most of the women that are in the women's right march are Democrats.

  • I still would have covered Trump at a prayer service, because the women that are protesting are just upset that Hillary didn't win, and they're scared of what Trump might do, which in my opinion is stupid. We had to deal with Obama for 8 years, and the women didn't complain, and now that Trump is president, they're panicking and upset because another Democrat didn't win the Oval office.  And CNN and MSNBC are liberal news networks, so of course they're gonna cover the women's protests. I think that Fox news didn't have coverage, because they thought it was dumb that women are protesting for something that Trump might do.

  • I would most likely show a little bit of the women's protest. I wouldn't want to show it for very long, though. I would rather focus on the new President which is something good rather than a silly protest. I think Fox News didn't cover the protests because they most likely don't support abortion. Personally, I don't support abortion because I don't support killing children. So, I assume that Fox News also is in favor of life over death.
