Are Energy Drinks bad for you?

Over the years energy drinks have been very popular with teens and college students who need an energy boost. However, the health of these energy drinks are a hot topic and a very big debate. Most people say that these energy drinks can offer some benefits and others say there are crucial ingredients and potential health risks and may have many bad effects on the body.

How can they be bad? Energy drinks contain a combination of caffeine, sugar, and other ingredients. Most energy drinks have a lot of sugar which is not good for you. Every energy drink has caffeine and caffeine is an addictive ingredient that increases your heart rate. Most energy drinks contain more than double of the recommended daily intake of sugar in a single serving. The caffeine can also mess with your body in a bad way.

How can they be good for you? The caffeine that’s in them can make you perform better for anything, like sports or an important event. It also decreases how tired you are. Caffeine can also enhance the mood you are in. Some energy drinks have good ingredients in them that can benefit you.

In my opinion, I feel like energy drinks are good. They may not be the best for you but I like them. They can help with many things but they can also cause many health issues.  Some energy drinks are better than others. If you know that you have problems with energy you should not drink them.

  • Good topic choice and well done Ellie. I would have liked a bit more on the history of endergy drinks.

  • I think that energy drinks can be very addictive. Most people start their morning with these, and it is a crucial part of their routine. Some people rely on energy drinks when they didn't get much sleep, which relying on caffeine like that is an addiction.

  • I think energy drinks can be both good and bad. They have a very high intake of sugar in each can, which starting your morning with that can be pretty unhealthy. If you drink these often it can be bad for your body as well. It increases your heart rate, and can affect you in other ways as well.

    • I agree that they can be both good and bad for you. Some can have high sugar but not all of them.

  • Energy drinks can be addictive because of the high caffiene and sugar. People start relying on them to feel awake or focused, and over time, they fell like they need one every day. It's kind of like getting hooked, which can be bad for your health.

  • I definitely do think that energy drinks can be very addicting in so many ways. One way is that some people will wake up in the morning and crave a energy drink no matter what. I also think that there should be a age restriction on energy drinks becuase young kids should not be having them becuase it could cause things to happen with their health, but that can also happen to anyone. I think there are many ways you can look at this.

    • I agree with you there is many ways you can look at this situationship. But you also have to think that its there life and there body. And if they wanna put an energy drink in them then thats on them.

    • I agree with you. I think that energy drinks being a big part of a lot of people's mornings isn't great for their health. I think energy drinks would be okay if they weren't consumed so regularly, but it has become very normal in society to get one whenever you feel the need for extra energy.

  • Yes i do think that they are bad for you. But i drink them and I think it should stay up to the consumer if they drink them or not. I definitely think that energy drinks can be addictive because some people count on them to wake them up each day.

  • 100% energy drinks are addictive. Many people walk around school with them everyday. This is a very bad habit that can also get pretty pricey. I believe that energy drinks are bad for people and choose not to drink them myself.
