As most know, there has been wildires in Canada. Due to the wildfires, smoke has been brought to other states. In many states, there are air quality alerts. The weather has started cooling down in Iowa, but now we have air quality alerts. The skies and hazy and smokey.
The National Weather Service in Des Moines posted saying the smoke and haze are associated with the Canadian wildfires. lowa DNR issued and air quality alert Wednesday afternoon for pollution until midnight on Friday. This alert is in effect for all counties in the Western half of lowa. People should reduce long or intense activities outside during this alert. The air quality index in Council Bluffs as of 3 p.m. Wednesday are red, which means unhealthy.
I think that these air conditions are dangerous right now, and people should avoid doing much outside until the air quality alerts are gone. When I look outside into the distance, it is hard to see far away due to the haze. It looks foggy and smoky, and there is not much visibility. I am hoping that after the air quality alert is not in effect anymore that the air we breathe is healthier and the air will be more clear. It is sad how much damage the Canada wildfires caused all around.

I think that there will be long term affects of the smoke affecting the air in iowa, i belive that Canada should be fined due to all of the air pollution they have caused
I am very thankful to have these air quality alerts they are super important and notify us when we should or should not be outside in dangerous conditions. Its sad to think that us Americans and Canadians can be in harmful air from all of the wildfires and sometimes not even realize it.
I think these wildfires are serious and harmful to not only Canada but to the United States. I love being outside, so it's sad to think that the air quality is bad enough for people to not be outside at much. Although, I'm sure it won't last that long. Probably a week if not less.
I think wildfires are bad and they should try to control them more by getting more people or planes to spread water or create diversions. I don't think they air quality alerts will last very long I think they will be gone within a week.
I think that air qualtity alerts are very important to it can tell people to be safe. I also think that us Americans and the people in Canda are in danger because of the wild fires. The smoke thats in the air can be harfmul and some people dont always relize this.

I haven't really noticed a difference in the air outside, but I know that this isn't a good thing. I don't think that people, escecially here, are doing anything about this. But, I don't really think that there is much for us to do here.
Yes this smoke is not a good thing. Fires have been burning in Canada since May. All the ash that gets put into the air from these fires is toxic because the sun melts the ash and then it sinks back down to the surface. Its kinda like a form of plastic from the sun melting the particles.
I don't that people are taking the air quality very seriously. We are still doing many things outside even though the air quality is bad. I think this might be over in a week though.
