HOMEOWNERS:

Hoe ownership rates fell sharply and housing prices plummeted; National Housing Act = designed to stop bank foreclosures on family homes; Federal Housing Administration = made housing and home mortgages more affordable; Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation (FSLIC) = insured deposits in savings and loans; United States Housing Authority (USHA) designed to lend money to the states or communities for low cost construction; Home Owner's Loan Corporation (HLC) was to refianance home mortgages currently in default to prevent foreclosure

ARTISTS AND MUSICIANS:

Artists: sought for popularity; art was deemed worthy; hired by the government; Federal Art Project;

Music: Ethnomusicology = study of music; make people happy; equality; distraction from GD

WOMEN OF THE GD:

boys got educated, women stayed home and the men worked; FERA (Federal Emergency Relief Administration) Eleanor supported it, brought families together and provided work and loans; WPA = Works Progress Admin., 1/3 members in the Social security Board; women would do household chores in the summer and in the rest of the year worked in schools, $.31 per hour, Only 709 black females held WPA jobs, horrible working conditions and $5 a week
