Today in CWI, we discussed our blog topics from about 2 weeks ago. We all had different assigned topics, but the first ones to go were Nicole and Erin. They did the United Nations, or the UN. The United Nations is a peace organization. General Assembly is a part of the United Nations that all nations are equally represented, and they come and talk about issues. The UN if very powerful. They can help protect countries, for example when North Korea invaded South Korea, the United Nations sent troops to help South Korea. It makes countries think before they invade somewhere because if you do that, you can almost be sure there will be a lot of nations coming after you.Jena and Max did the supreme leader of Iran. Ali Khamenei is a politician in Iraq. He has a big role in the country, but he is not the president or anything. He was their interim president so to speak when their last president was assassinated. Even though he isn't president now, he's the guy in charge making all the decisions.Next up was President Ahmadinejad of Iran. Lauren, Luke, Courtney and Taylor did this one. In the recent election, it was very controversial. He won, but the supporters of his opponent thought it was rigged, so they went to his election party and threw fake bombs. He is the fourth of seven children. He went to college, but that didn't work out. He went on to be a college professor. As you can tell, he's very smart. He also has a wife and 2 boys.Ahmadinejad is a little off. He believes there is a guy named Mahdi guy who is god. He did so much as to tear up a road and make it better for his entrance. He is a little loopy. For instance, he makes wishes and writes them on a piece of paper and throws them in a well because he believes that's where Mahdi is. He doesn't believe in the Holocaust, and says it never happened.
