Rachel is doing her presentaton on chapter 5 lesson 1Basic Cowboy information; We learned how to ranch and rope and stuff from Mexico. Cowboy worked 10-14 hours a day and the age range is from 15-40. They spent most of their time on horse. The demand for beef went up when we started to run out of buffalo. CHicago Union Stock Yards open 1865. 1866; railroads ran east. Then demanded an increase in cowboys. End of Open Range; ended because of overgrazing, bad weather, and invention of barbed wire. 1883-1887; really bad weather period.and i started my presentation. i talked about the Homestead act and the Union and Pacific Railroads.
